When you're deciding when and where to hunt, what do you focus on the most? Weather forecast? Wind direction? Solunar data (i.e., the "best time" to hunt)?

The wind dictates where I go for the most part. I don't pay attention to the moon or the minor or major feeding periods because I think its a bunch of bull.

I don't always hunt the line, but when I do, I make sure I'm close to my neighbor's 8 acre bean field.

1. When I have time.
2. Weather. Colder the better.
3. Wind direction. Once I decide to go, wind direction determines what stand I hunt.
4. Trail cam intel. Cellular trail cams help me know when bucks get more active in daylight hours.

wind direction tells me what stands are available. After that i use other factors to determine which of those stands I'll take.

I go just about every afternoon on one of 3 properties I hunt. Don't do much morning hunting until the rut kicks in. I try to move around to spread out the pressure but the wind always determines the actual spot that I will hunt that day

My main three:

Wind Direction

Who's hunting around me and how their pressure will affect my location.

How long it has been since the particular area in general was hunted.

Right here. Wind speed and direction. After I've satisfied that criteria I go where I have confidence in seeing a deer I want to kill.

Wind direction narrows down the possibilities, then it's which of those areas are still available, then where I think my chances for seeing a shooter are best.

Although 95% of my hunting is running and gunning elk, its pretty much the same choices as if I were deer hunting...

Please explain this wind direction, sitting in the climber the other morning watched leaves blow N,S,E,W in a few hours and for cast called for an easterly blow and that was the direction it came from the least, where I was. Maybe it's better in y'alls world. For me when the wind is dominate from one direction it's usually to windy for me to go, but that's just me.

1. Fresh/hot sign
2. Trail cam
3. Wind

If deer sign is not there, I dont hunt a spot period.
