That is an Awesome buck. I believe, since he is a young man on his first solo hunt, that I would refer to that deer as a 10 point. Its not his fault that that brow tine is broken and the taxidermist can repair that tine. If you guys decide to mount it, it will be a perfect 10 point when you get it back.
