Same ole' thing every year. In-laws tell us to be there at a certain time to start. Always end up waiting for an hour and a half later to eat since other folks show up late. Will do it all over again next year. Inconsiderate people. mad
We'll prolly be the last ones to leave on top of it all.

Nope. Just start when you are supposed to start let them show up late and ignore their arrival. Next yr they will get there on time, if not tell them 2 hrs earlier than you are supposed to them they can wait on everyone else

I fought that chit for the 1st 23 years of my 28 year marriage. Mother in Law refused to start without that inconsiderate B@$#%h of a sister in law of mine. I finally had enough 5 years ago and told them they could all KMA and I ask the wife if she was riding with me or finding another way home? She left with me and didn't attend for a couple of years. She goes back now and I go hunting or clean the chitters or something. Anything is better than sitting around waiting on that bunch to all show up and then argue for a few hours and leave.

I do send them a group card every year that say's "YOU CAN ALL STILL KIZZ MY AZZ!!!"

They've got 4 long-haired Chihuahuas running around begging for food while I'm trying to eat. Puffs of dog hair all around the house. Piss stains on their $3,000 leather couch from the dogs. Love it.

I used to go open my in-laws door when I got to their house and put their dog outside. Rottweiler who liked to lick and sit on your feet. No one said a word and the dog kind of got used to it.

Agree with the first part about starting on time. Disagree about telling them 2 hours early for next year. Tell them the correct time, and start on time every year. They're adults...either be there on time, or miss out on something.

I don't sweat the small stuff. I ain't going to starve in two hours if everyone wants to wait on someone else. I couldn't care less if we even eat or not.

With 2 kids and 2 sides of the family, I wish everyone would just chill. We’re gonna make it by and see y’all. Start without us. I don’t care. Got a lot to do and spending time with my immediate family and it being fun and enjoyable is my number one goal. Oh that’s just not fair?? See ya next time. Merry Christmas.

I don't wait, I'm on time if I'm going everyone else can be too.
We either start on time, I go ahead and eat or I just leave and I don't care which.
I can't stand an adult human being that couldn't care enough to be on time

My parents always set a time and we end up eating about a hour after the time Mom plans on us eating. It’s not a issue because there is always finger foods and snack stuff all over to snack on all Day. Christmas Eve mornings are spent with family (wife and boys) and after lunch we are with my parents. If someone is late that’s their problem and others shouldn’t have to wait on them to start the festivities.

The secret to a long marriage is to keep on dating, just as you did before marriage. We have "date night" once a week.
Hers is Saturday, mine is Thursday.

It's not just Christmas, it's everything. Family gatherings, coworkers, corporate trips, literally everything. There are folks like me (type-A punctual to a fault) and then folks who I can't decide if they have zero comprehension of how long it takes to get ready and get there, or just flat don't give a @#$@# about anybody but themselves. It's the most diva obnoxious attitude of anything too....they always come back with some smart-alec crap. Of course it's not their fault, they are just loving life and won't be bound by your dogmatic timelines. Their carefree attitude about it pisses me off worse than their being late.

The person who isn't on time is WRONG. Your world might revolve around YOU, but mine don't. When you're late, and others were there at the prescribed time, YOU ARE WRONG. I just want to make that clear. The subject of being punctual has NOTHING whatsoever to do with being chill, or enjoying one's family, or any of that philosophical horsecrap that has NOTHING to do with punctuality. The entirety of mankind, human existence, revolves around a clock and calendar. Nobody, for any reason, is an island in a vacuum. Unless you are doing something alone, your punctuality is of the utmost.

We do Christmas at our house every year. We set the time to eat, if your late you can eat when you get here. We don't assign the ones who are always late essential dishes.

I do things at my house and tell people the exact time that we are going to start eating. Get there when you want. Don't tell people when you arrive, just when you are going to start doing things. Then don't worry about it. Everyone is happy because I am the dick, and it takes the stress off of everyone. Don't worry if people are there early or late, just have fun.
