I think I may be on the verge of setting a record.....I have been hunting since opening day of bow season...over 2 months now, and I still have not laid eyes on a deer.

I would just drive around at dusk until I saw one somewhere or walk until I jumped one to get that bad juju off you.

This could tie in with the, "Are we alone?", thread. My sightings have been way down compared to last year. I've seen 4 total on about 10 hunts.

Sorry for the bad luck Gomer. I was in your shoes a couple seasons ago. Never saw a single deer the entire season. I had to put in more time laying down the boot leather on public ground, and widening my hunting opportunities in order to see more deer.

I'll say this - I spent only 2 evenings hunting a Quota Hunt public area in TN back in November, and in those 2 evening sits saw more deer than I've seen all year in Alabama anywhere, including a fantastic buck that I never got a shot on. Got me seriously considering joining a club up there next season if I can get into one.

It's crazy. I got a couple deer my first year hunting, then saw 1 deer the whole season the next year. Pretty depressing considering I had put a lot of work in going into my second season. This year has been a good one for me so far. Hang in there!

and it's not just me......with 5 hunters hunting, there has not been a single deer spotted since Thanksgiving weekend, by anyone.

there are tracks and sign everywhere, they're just not moving during the day.

I don't let the stinky britches get within 50 miles of the club!

Don’t feel bad Gomer. The few times I’ve gotten to go I haven’t seen anything either.

I would like to get something for the freezer because I lost all the meat I had. So a doe would be good for me.

But I am hunting public ground and not a club. I am still learning the areas I can hunt. May not get one and that’s fine too.

I would rather be tried by 12, than carried by 6.

I can relate to this. We have sign and tracks all over everywhere but getting them in daylight is the hard part. Cameras show they are moving some in daylight, just nothing consistent. I am about to change tactics and hunt in places I wouldn't expect them to be. Worth a shot.

I don't always hunt the line, but when I do, I make sure I'm close to my neighbor's 8 acre bean field.

Sounds like my last season. I wasn't even finding tracks crossing roads in traditional places. I had to really get down deep into hard to hunt, difficult to access spots and started seeing deer, but then I had the issue of not wanting them badly enough to try to pack a dead one out of the places I'd found them.
This season has been the opposite. I've been seeing right in the roads driving around the lease and taking passes on most of them.
