I read reports a week or so back of specks and reds being caught around Gravine Island.
Check that...it was reds around Gravine Island and the report was from 9/26/2010.
Gravine Reds If you're wanting bass, this is the time of year that bass fishing on the causeway starts getting hot. A couple of years ago, a buddy and I put in at Scott's on the causeway, ran up river a couple of miles and fished our way back down river. We threw bruiser Snagless Sallies with silver blades around clumps of grass right off the bank on the east side, and there were fish on nearly every clump of grass. Most of them 2-3#. Don't know that it will be the same now though, with the drought we've had...salt water has pushed up into the rivers and has probably driven the bass farther north or into the feeder creeks to the rivers (Bayou Sara, Gunnison, etc)
