Does anyone know if i can gun hunt this? Or is it bow only? According to the tva map...it looks like its rite outside the city limmit. I have never seen anyone hunt back there ever. Im talking about the dirt road that heads from ditto landing under hwy 231 and leads towards arsenal. Runs along tennessee river and stops at arsenal boundary. Use to be used by General Shale Brick company.

We hunted it once last year with guns I wasn't very impressed and where it joins the arsenal there were people hunting it that were coming off private land. They had a chair setup in the clearing where the lands meet up on the west side. I thought the same thing you did that maybe it wasn't getting hunted much but found out other wise.

Yeah we use to ride 4 wheelers in there about 10 year ago. We would see a hunter on the private land hunting. I grew up around there and have never seen but a few deer. Just tired of driving an hour to hunt

That's not the only tva around though. Some of the other just requires a boat. Between tva and wheeler you shouldn't have to drive an hour to hunt. I'm not telling you not to hunt that area. I just wasn't impressed.

TVA warden will tell you it is TVA land. DNR busted a bunch of the kids saying it is City of Hsv land! And it stood up in court. I would not go there period!

There's still some deer in the general area. Bought my first house on Wyandotte Dr years ago; just across the street from where you are asking about. One winter, I had to make a cold medicine run to WalMart in the middle of the night for my wife. Saw an 8-point standing in the middle of of Hobbs Rd about 3am; must have been crossing in between that wooded hill and that small tract behind Wally World. Lots of homes built in that area since I moved. But, the Green Cove Rd area, before all the home building, used to be a popular hunting ground for the locals; dove, deer, etc.
FYI, I've seen more deer taken out of the Cloud's Cove/Grey Line Farms TVA land recently than along the river bank. Although, in the 1970's, on a school field trip, I did find some deer bones & teeth in your area. Anyways, good luck.

February 1, 2010 about 4:30pm I was coming home from RSA when I crested the hill on Hobbs Road with South Parkway in sight. An 8 point walked off Bell Mtn and across Hobbs Road into that little scope of woods by Walmart. Damnedest thing I ever saw in broad daylight. If I remember correctly, oncoming traffic had to stop when he crossed the median going toward WM.
