The internet is an amazing thing-
I just got a call from the officer I met yesterday. He wanted to clarify that out of state residents do need a license, and he verified mine shortly after our encounter. The mistake was that there were 2 officers I met with and each thought the other had checked my license and we all misinterpreted the conversation.
I would like to reiterate that my encounter was nothing but professional and I had zero issues with how either officer acted. I was confused about how some things were handled (ID and license) and apparently so were they. All is well that ends well. Maybe I'm confused or I missed it In all the posts above, but if he didn't know you and you didn't know him, and he didn't check your identification, how did he know how to get in touch with you. Especially being out of state?

They will no longer ask about owning the land, age, handicapped, etc. It will be "Are you on an entitlement program?"

I don't think you really believe that. 24 hours later the guy says you know what, I need to call that guy I met yesterday and give a little more detail as to why I didn't ID him. Now I need to go through the Florida DL database, get his contact info and give him a buzz at home. Just to clarify our discussions in the woods yesterday, yea right.

I really didn't give it much thought. I just figured if he didn't get the guys name, drivers license or hunting license but he got his phone number, I assumed he ran his tag when he was there and that's how he got all his info.

I think they were likely looking for a specific person or offense and OP didn't meet what they were looking for so he got just a cursory encounter. Good that it went well for him so he could get right back to hunting without having to search for documents.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

He appears to be anti-land owner, handicapped, active military, and senior citizens with his comments. The same guy who wants people with NO guns, just working their dogs, to have a hunting liscense to watch the dog.
