I'm seriously considering doing the same thing. My 06 duramax is starting to Nickel and dime me to death.
Same for me. I had 2 rusted rocker panels, a bad fuel sensor that it near impossible to get to, the a/c was starting to act up, etc. I�ll be honest, that 06 is hands down the best truck I have ever owned. It didn�t use oil at all. I about pulled my hair out at 130k when every sensor on the truck started going but other than those sensors, the only hardware I replaced was the driver side bearing and CV axle. It was definitely the easiest truck I�ve ever taken care of. The stuff that was starting to go wrong was just piling up so I decided to get what I could out of it and move on. With that sensor and the rocker panels it was easily $2k in stuff that needed fixed. I have been looking at trucks with the intention to buy something soon, I just didn�t go to the dealer last night with the intention to drive off in one. But, he gave me a good price for my truck and I was able to get him down more on the truck than I dreamed I would. Then I was able to put enough down to where I�ll have it paid off in a year. I couldn�t pass that up.
I would have loved to keep my truck longer but like you said its starting to nickel and dime me to death. I just don't have time right now to have to constantly be fixing something.
