Dont get frustrated, youre getting shots now. Make sure youre aiming in the lower 3rd on them nannerheads because 99.9% of them will jump the string. After I got into tournament shooting I struggled missing them high because I was aiming at them like the 3D targets.

I can tell you I have gave a bunch of bucks buzz cuts the last few years. I mean three good ones. Whats funny is I am shooting 50 percent on bucks and 100 percent on does. I am either doing two things. Dont bend at the waist or Im trying to see the arrow hit. This year while practicing I keep telling myself after every shot, bend shoot and follow through. Hopefully it helps me.
What do you think you are doing wrong.

I just cant settle myself down enough to make the shot. Yesterday i had a little time to study the situation more before the shot. I had to control my breathing a little and when she got to a certain mark i knew was 30yds i took it. Had 4 does in the field so didnt want to risk being spotted so took the longer shot. Left/right the shot was perfect but she ducked it. Didnt shoot low enough.

Today as bad as i hate to admit it she was 14yds out. I went to where she stood and ranged my blind and it was 14yds. I just jacked up the shot. She didnt even have time to jump or duck. It was over her and gone before she even flinched. She was a little spooky at first when she seen my blind but still didnt even have time to do anything when i shot. I just flat out missed high. Again.

Shooting deer is mentalWe can talk about mechanics until the cows come home but you have to learn to grab ahold of yerself mentally when that deer comes in and make yourself go through a step by step process like a robot..not like an emotional human. Take a deep breath and go to a different place in your mind.Control your breathing and focus on the spot you want to hitsqueeze your finger and dont jerk it..Be confident.

Hang in there. Youll connect before long. Come up with a checklist and talk yourself through each step before taking the shot. Hell, Ive missed them at 12 yards.

Don't beat yourself up to bad about it. Hell I've missed two 130's this year. Like Shaw said make a checklist and focus on it and not the deer. Until you kill one try to keep your shots under 30 yards and at 30 use your 20 yard pin. Hold on the bottom third and the deer will do the rest. When you get to full draw make sure your sight is centered in the peep, level is level, your using the right pin and pick a spot and focus on that spot. Don't drop your arm to see where the arrow is going. Focus on these things and not those knees knocking together. And I've got Shaw beat. I missed one at 8 yards one morning and killed him at 52 yards when he stopped to figure out what just happened. I'd suggest you take a few practice shots to make sure that there's no equipment problems and to get your confidence back before you head out on the next hunt. Stay after it, it will all come together.
