Ideally, how many deer would you (or your household, if more than one hunts) like to put in the freezer each season?

I know folks with 3-4 people (parents and a kid or 2) that will try to kill 7-8 deer/season and I just don't get it. We could easily get by 3 or 4, depending on size......and we cook quite a bit of venison.

House of 4 and ideally, we would need between 3-4 deer to make it through the year.

it all depends on how much you consume. I know a family that only eats deer, turkey, and hogs killed in a hunting environment. I have never seen them purchase meat from a store. For my family usually 3-4 deer will do.

Just my wife and I, 2 seemed to be good last year. I'll probably try for 3 this year because my mom and dad really liked the deer and want some.

4 would probably get about anyone in any financial situation through an entire year if they fished and small game hunted.

I dont shoot nannies so whatever bucks I kill we keep one and the rest go to my granny. Its just me and my wife in the house. My son will kill 2 for him and give 2 to granny.

I like deer meat but I don't hunt to fill the freezer. I hunt because I enjoy it.

my wife and I eat 4-5 deer a year easy. We very rarely buy any beef.

House of 4. We put 5 in the freezer last year and I have 3 packs of cube, 1 whole tenderloin and about 10lbs of ground left.

My biggest issue is finding a place to shoot does for the freezer. Our lease in Fayette County is in a low density area so we only shoot two does per year and we let the kids take those. I try and help a buddy in Selma shoot some does every year but we typically only put one or two in the freezer. Last year was an odd year.

We would eat deer meat several times per week if we have it. Last night we had Deer tacos and the kids loved them (age 3 & 7). We try and eat low carb so its hard for us to eat all the ground every year. I get tired of hamburger patties.

I like to put up 3 each year for me and my wife.

I know a guy that eats nothing but deer and hog all year. I would say roughly how many does he kills each year but some of y'all get get all wadded up.

X2. We're a household of 5 and we try to put up 3 deer/year. That will get us through to about July/August each year.

Two deer, one steer and a pig.

Two a year. I only buy beef if it's ribeyes.

I only buy beef on the hoof.

If you have the chance try a Chuck Eye, I think it was Irishguy that turned me on to them.
Very similar to a Ribeye but a little bit cheaper.

House of five and don't buy beef. We put back 5-7 a year and give away quite a few.

3-4 deer; i generally get between 30-40 lbs of burger on avg per deer so 3-4 is plenty

0, but if I choose to shoot one I process it and give it away.

I have a friend who usually puts up at least a dozen if not 14-15 for a family of four. They do not buy beef or store meat.

Most folks I know go with 3-4 depending on how they consume them.

Everyone's different so I don't really give a flip how many deer someone kills as long as they're consumed. Anyone who needs a lot of meat could buy a Tennessee license and shoot does in the west zone.
