Is there an unwritten rule that you cant send a Mexican to do the work for you? Asking for a friend...

I have a rule at our club that if you don't make at least 1 of our 2 work days and then put in an additional 8 hours of work on your own time, that you are not allowed to hunt or you have to pay $200. It is not an option and it is strictly enforced. If you break the rule and decide to hunt anyway, you will be removed from the club immediately and you will not be refunded any of your paid dues.
Have never had to remove anyone but I have collected the fees before. Pretty simple, work or pay or DON'T HUNT.

We've got a whole club full of them even if they do show up ,they are next to useless . Plant day we had two tractor and 4 wheeler spreaders so we had planting . We told the rest to trim roads check houses . We came back through an hour or so later and they were sitting on tailgates of the truck doing nothing.

I see a few tough guys on here. Maybe yall should ban together and form your own club that way you could beat each other up when something isn't done right.
I had much rather be tried by twelve than carried to my grave by six!!!!

We actually don't have a problem with our members doing their time. Most go far beyond the minimum amount of time required. That is what makes our place so nice, we have 12 guys that don't mind putting in the time to make the place a better club. I think it helps a lot by only taking members by referral from existing members too. You normally aren't going to refer a slacker because it is a reflection on you. I think we have only added three members in the past 5 years and those were due to guys moving out of town or starting up their own club.

It doesnt have to be confrontational to be effective. Hey man, we really could have used your help during work days, hate you couldnt make it. Weve all got families, but members have to make work days a priority. No ass whippings or shouting matches needed.

Age old debate. Who has more right to the club and deer. Those that work always seem to believe it is them. If a guy pays his dues and work days are not required then there really are no grounds for calling him out. If days are required and someone doesn't that is a bird of a different color. I work in the busiest ER in Alabama and also own 2 businesses. My time is limited as I am sure many others on here is too. I sure don't want to spend the few off days I get working and I am not going to burn vacation for the hunting club unless I am hunting haha. I would just say if there is not rule against what he did, then calling him out however you do it is personal and anyone would have a hard time not seeing it that way. My club doesn't require days or fines, but I pay a "donation" anyway when I can't make a work day. Just my thoughts. Hope everyone has a great season club or not.

I bet the ones that do a fine in place of showing up for a work day still bitch about the ones that didn't show up even though they pay the fine. It's really not about the work or the fine it's about being jealous over a deer.

Sounds like a few of the posters above would fit in well.

You are exactly the type person I am talking about. What if everyone had your attitude? How do you think those plots got planted, magic??? Somebody, or a couple of somebodies had to make it a priority and get it done while you make excuses. Everyone has other things to do, I bet you aren't too busy to hunt.

I've been in a club where everyone was too busy. We paid someone to bush hog and plant fields, ect. and no drama. In fact, I think it worked great. You didn't have the "sweat equity" members who love to gripe about how they worked all summer, and now everyone else is hunting.

If work days aren't required, why are you complaining? If some people choose to do more work than others, good for them, but if there aren't rules about work days, you have no grounds to be upset.

You must be part of the " I'll just show up and hunt" crowd. Mighty bold assumption of you. If I'm in a club I'll come work my butt off, as I enjoy working in the woods. All I'm saying is that if you aren't up front with the member with rules about your expectations, you can't whine about it when he doesn't read your mind about what you're expecting from him.

If he's up front with them that he'll have limited time to work, but is happy to pay extra in lieu of work days, and everyone in his club is ok with that, then what the hell difference does it make to you? Maybe you and everyone else in your club should have set realistic expectations, and made sure everyone was on the same page prior to the season with those expectations and the consequences of missing out, instead of just kinda making it up as you go and getting your panties in a twist when someone else doesn't do as much work as you feel like you did. But then, you didn't come here for advice or suggestions on how to handle the situation, you came here with your ass on your shoulders wanting to vent, and now you're frustrated because it's gone sideways on you.

I get mad when I get down to the club, and nobody has any food for me to eat in the fridge.
