I've released a couple of dogs in the 40 lb range that I was 99% sure were wild, but I wasn't gonna take the chance of it belonging to someone. My catch stick was a 6' piece of pipe with a rope through it and it could double as a killing stick. I was always ready to put it to it's alternative use if the dog wanted to fight, but both of them ran off after I released them.

PCP I released three dogs from leg holds some jackleg set behind my house in Hale Co. Last one put me on the car hood trying to bite me after I got it loose. LOL. Someone missed a good video chance.

Wish I could've seen that. I killed a dozen or more bobcats with my catch stick, so I had confidence I was gonna win if the dogs wanted to fight. I tried several ways of dispatching trapped varmits without damaging the hides. My grandfather always carried a .22 rifle, but I wanted something easier to carry. No such thing as UTV back then; I often had to walk the line. The catch stick across the head would kill anything, but it caused massive blood clots and discolored the hide. I finally started carrying a revolver.

I once caught a neighbor dog that I knew well and had petted before. I hated to use the catch stick on him, so I petted on him for a while and got his tail wagging and tried to slip the trap off. Big mistake. He latched onto my arm and gave me the worst dog bite of my life.

Coyotes will kill fawns that I know for sure......with that said I did not have a single fawn survive on my 96 acres in Gulfcrest. I do not know if coyotes are solely to blame, but some predators did a dang number around here this year

Last hunting club I was in in Sumter county few years ago was covered up with yotes. The last 2 years I never saw a doe with fawns. I'm convinced they were getting wiped out by yotes

And they all left!

I've thrown the idea around about putting on a predator/invasive hunt rodeo during late spring and early fall . Something like a 4 day competition with different categories . Kinda like a fishing tournament . Have like a grand slam,biggest,and most killed type thing . Also have a weigh in every evening littelrly just like a billfish tournament .It would also keep people sharp on shooting during the off season . I preach to everyone you can't just manage a deer heard with shooting deer only ! You have to manage the entire circle including what they eat and what eats them . Won't more turkeys ? Kill coons . Won't more deer ? Kill coyotes . Won't more of both ? Kill hogs .

those damn bears will kill the everliving snot out of fawns, add yotes and there is your answer.

Very true Fred with the best sniffer in the woods. They can smell them fawns bedded while moms out feeding . Wish these Florida tree huggers would pull there head out of the sand and let us manage these bears . Legally ...

We have had lots of game cam pictures in Barbour County of yotes chasing full grown deer. I have already seen them hunting two full grown does (that should have had fawns but didn't) from a treestand this bow season. They absolutely will hunt full grown deer. Seeing is believing for me.

When word gets out about the tournament the peta folks will come out of the woodwork. Many states have banned any type of hunting tournaments because of the public opinion against them.
If you can keep it off the internet they are a lot of fun.
Personally I shoot everyone I can even when deer hunting.

Naturally when one presents itself . But would also be fun when serious deer hunting isn't going on . Also maybe have a class for for PETA Pansy's ? Not killing but maybe just an ass whoopin . You could bring a dreadlock or eyebrow ring for proof ? No video acorse .

Alabama has a law prohibiting hunter harassment. Peta could show up but couldn't do anything more make a fool of themselves.

have a tournament...shoot a bunch of bears...blame the killings on the PETA folks...problem solved.

When I first started hunting my place in Sumter there was a fence line between 2 pastures with a gate in it. This was early spring right before everything blooms out. I stopped to open the gate and glanced up the fence line and saw a bunch of shiny things along the wood line. The woodline was made of mostly of Bodock trees and was pretty open underneath. I wondered what was shiny, it looked like tinsel. I went to investigate and it was hundreds (like 250-300) sets of treble hooks on about 50 pound line. And what looked like hundreds of skeletons of coyotes, from years and years. I assume the previous lease holder baited them.

We went and removed all the hooks and discarded them but it was a very eerie sight.

Im fitn to learn me a legal way to commit mass destruction on these sorry critters.

More folks are gonna have to get involved in trapping. It really wouldn�t be that hard for a club to buy 6 traps or maybe a dozen and run them during hunting season when folks would be there to check them. There�s lots of good places to catch yotes that are easy to access since they use the road systems and powerlines, etc so much. Maybe give each member one or two foothold traps and whoever catches the most by the end of the season gets some kind of �prize��.whatever incentive works good for y�all�.cheaper dues, less work days, whatever�

If you were gonna hunt for numerous days in a row then it would be pretty easy to set a trap out somewhere along your route in and out and check it as you come and go from hunting. Just think about it like jug fishing for yotes.
