Legit curious here: tax dollars?

The fraternity and sorority houses at UA are state property. The ones at AU belong to the fraternity and sorority chapter organizations. Some of the newer houses at UA are valued at over 20 million dollars. It’s unbelievable how nice these buildings/ homes are.

The Pi Kapp house at FSU is owned by Pi Kapp. I sleeps over a 100 guys and was built to be an apartment type place if something like this ever happen. The front of the house is a traditional frat house but the back is 3 stories of apartments that open from the outside like a hotel.

I had to pay my was thru college, I of course worked on boats in the summer but Bar Tended, waited tables at Quinsy's steak house and even bagged groceries at publix while I was a Pi Kapp. The room rent was so cheap that I could actually pay my frat dues and room rent and was about the same price as an apartment. Plus I was close to school and parking is bad around there.

Lots of fun in college, lots of work too, but a lot of fun. The socials with the sororities, the football games with sororities, the parties, the formals. It was really awesome for a farm boy from Jay, Fl. As far as drinking and drugs, Ive always drank, I still drink, I've never done any drugs and really didn't see a lot of it back then. I or any of my pledge brothers were ever hazed with alcohol but we were hazed especially during hell week, but looking back it was all in fun and tradition. Once I was a brother I too carried on that tradition.

As far as buying your friends. I actually made friends playing pool in bars the year before I joined Pi Kapp, When I rushed I didn't go to any other frats, all my friends were Pi Kapps if that makes any sense. You find your people in college, people you feel comfortable around. I would not change my college experience for the world it was awesome.

These buildings have multiple commercial kitchens in them. Every room is sprinkled. These aren’t stick frame houses here. All red steel with with cmu or metal studs at partition walls and ISO 6 construction at all below grade levels. Some of these areas or partial floors serve as a storm shelter that will withstand 200 mph winds.

Fraternities were as important to my college education as the schooling itself. Life is about connections and the cliche, it's not what you know, but who you know is most certainly true.

I've heard the whole paying for friends spill before, and I've always laughed it off, because the ones spewing that rhetoric have no experience to quantify their words.

I use the connections I made through a fraternity every day in business, and I'd venture to say those connections have paid not only my fraternity dues, but my college tuition off already.

The back of our house is all cinder block, built like a tank. Yes we had a big commercial kitchen and a meal plan also. There was breakfast every morning, lunch and dinner if you were on the plan. I really couldn't justify the extra cost and ate plenty at my bar and at Quincys steak house, mostly off of other peoples plates. LOL

Y'all take a look at this poor chapter of Kappa Delta sisters who are going to be left with no sorority life, and tell me this isn't a travesty.

Someone show records, evidence or other proof of tax dollars paying for the fraternity or sorority houses.

If tax dollars pay for anything, again legit curious, I'd love to know about it.

Dues, alumni donations, etc. pay for these.

Sounds rough. Sounds like some real winners in that fraternity.

I do think donations are tax deductible. That would mean the government is subsidizing it a bit. I’m not 100% sure on the deductibility though.
