I'd like to see all of them banned nationwide, along with all athletic scholarships. Go to school for an education. Play sports if you want, that's great, but let the coaches play the kids that go there for the education. I’d like a 65’ Hatteras. Where do I sign up?

I hate making a good first impression. There’s no way I can keep that shit up.

I get what you're saying about going for an education but what is so wrong with having fun while you're there? I mean if you've got the money why not?

Nothing wrong with having fun. What does overdosing on alcohol and drugs have to do with fun?

I first colored JDA yellow because he pissed me off. I banned his ass for being a liar and a piece of garbage. AU7MM08 hasn't got to that point. He's just annoying. I can tolerate annoying. IL just keep poking him. He won't get banned for Pissing me off.

Greek life is the biggest money making racket. They charge thousands of dollars to belong, and more if you live in the house. What product/service is being given in return? Friends? Business connections? Maybe that but not worth what a person pays for it. Experiences? Go get a full time job and pay for your own college. That'll give you more life experiences than you ever asked for. They just don't make sense to me.

I'm not a huge proponent of Greek life, but here are some statistics for you fellas that think they're pointless.
Of the nation’s 50 largest corporations, 43 are headed by fraternity men. 85% of the Fortune 500 executives belong to a fraternity. 40 of 47 U.S. Supreme Court Justices since 1910 were fraternity men. 76% of all Congressmen and Senators belong to a fraternity. Every U.S. President and Vice President, except two in each office, born since the first social fraternity was founded in 1825 have been members of a fraternity.

Slayer, those are all reasons to eliminate fraternities.

Typical response from someone that was never in one and I can only guess never had any fun in college. Yep I just made a generalization like you did.

You really have your head in an orifice if you think only frat boys have fun in college. Such is the pompous geek life of those that do not dwell on the level of normals. Play the game, bigboy.

I think I'm most surprised that Outback hasn't drawn up a conspiracy theory that fraternities are funded by the Illuminati

I was in a frat, my ex was not in a sorority and was very anti-sorority. She said this ALL the time, "paying for friends, that's all it is" Said it to get at me. It pissed me off then, and it pisses me off now. You pay to join the Masons, Mardi Gras societies in Mobile, Chamber of Commerce, hunting clubs, shooting ranges, card playing clubs, Rotary, Lions, etc. Are all those "paying for friends" too??? Just because you pay a dues, and in some cases for a place to stay and food to eat at a frat house, which is a benefit, you know, like genuine friendship, contacts, fun, networking, people who have your back, how the hell does that make the friendships any less genuine?? It's like just because you pay dues, it's somehow tainted???? GIVE ME A BREAK. That's about the dumbest thing anyone could say, and that includes the b*@$Ch that I was married to.

Play the game, bigboy. “Dwell on the level of normals” and “play the game”.....I have no idea Bigboy! Your first sentence made sense and I agree- my comment was sarcastic about generalizations. Solaturkey- good post.

Y’all sound like the folks’ parents in college who got a 0.00 GPA and blamed the fraternity.

People who bash fraternities as paying for friends have no idea what fraternities do and mean. I don’t know why they feel the need to bash people who joined and the organizations. But, it is clear they don’t know what they are talking about because they have not experienced it.

Typical response from someone that was never in one and I can only guess never had any fun in college. Yep I just made a generalization like you did. You know what? For the most part, you're right. I was never in one and didn't have a ton of fun during college because I worked in the coal mines during the day and went to school at night, or vice versa, depending on what shift I was in. I used the money I EARNED to send myself to school and came out debt free. I didn't have the luxury of living off daddy's money to go play at school and I was too smart to take out student loans. Maybe I do have a tainted view on fraternities. It could have something to do with my brother that was in one that nearly drank himself to death during the many required drinking games. Or maybe it has something to do with his fraternity "brothers" trying to convince him, after he got all liquored up, to attempt to jump from one convertible to another while driving down I-65 south. That's when he sobered up real fast and saw that those people didn't have his best interest at heart. When he refused to do it guess what happened? He was shunned by his so called "brothers". He dropped out of the fraternity and all those "great friends" and "brothers" never had another thing to do with him again. Wow, I guess looking at it like that I really did miss out.

I'm not directly this at you doekiller but what you said makes me want to make myself clear on something. I don't bash anyone on joining a fraternity. If it's for a particular person, then great. But anyone that has ever been in one has to admit when they first got in, the appeal of instant friends/relationships had to be a draw. At least, I would think.
