So you honestly believe that Red Lobster serves fresh shrimp? Here's a news flash: "IT'S A CHAIN!"

According to Red Lobster you don't break even on the deal until you eat at least 100 of the little buggers imported from somewhere in southeast asia.

In all honestly I don't know if Red Lobster could pay me to eat 100 of their shrimp.

That said I'm sure it taste good for what it is, so I understand folks going there and partaking.

I don't think they have a single piece of fresh seafood on the menu. Everything is frozen.

My senior year in HS the night before our (eventual) final game, the seniors went out for a meal at Sizzler in Decatur. They had AYCE shrimp and steak. We weren't being boisterous loud but were enjoying the evening. The restaurant was virtually empty.

Manager finally came out and said they had no more shrimp. Dunno if he was lying or if they were out, but they wouldn't serve us anymore. I think probably 16 or 17 of us were there, maybe more, and we put a hurting on them that night.

We went to a local restaurant several years ago and they said they had fresh frog legs. We figured somebody had been on the Choctawhatchee River and had a good night. We ate a bunch of them, delicious frog legs. I ask the owner who gigged them and she said she didn't know, a little while later she came back in and said they came from Bangladesh.

Back when I was still working construction the whole crew I had been working with on a shutdown at the mill in Pennington stopped by Ezells after clocking out the last day. About 6 or 7 of us. They had a all you can eat deal on whole fried catfish. We all ordered it and went to town. It was early in the evening and we where about the only people there. I don't know how many platters the waitress brought to our table but the cook kept coming out to see where all the fish was going. It looked like a t-rex died on our table. If they made any profit off of us that night I'd hate to have to live on it.

The lobsters in the tank are the only fresh thing they have

Is there a restaurant in Montgomery that isn't full of blacks?

Hate to tell y'all but if you eat seafood at any restaurant anywhere it's more than likely delivered to them frozen.

If you get snapper from the Bright Star it is always fresh. I've met the chef on several occasions and he has taken Mrs. Irish and I ona tour of the kitchen. They get fresh snapper delivered every day.

Same goes for George's place The Fish Market downtown. Everything is fresh. Mrs. Irish is good friends with George and he has his own trucks that run back and forth to the coast buying seafood. It's the only place in town that I will eat a raw oyster.

If you want quantity over quality go to Red Lobster, if you want real, fresh, seafood at a reasonable price, prepared by people that know how to cook, and care about what they are serving go to The Fish Market in downtown Birmingham. (We skip the other locations. They aren't the same.)

The Bright Star (Red Snapper)
The Fish Market (All their seafood)
Nick's West

Those are about the only places in Birmingham that I will order seafood.

Almost all shrimp is frozen now unless you get it straight off the boat from a small operation. If it's done right 5heres no problem with frozen local shrimp. Fish, I prefer fresh, and it's easy to get down here.

My expectations aren't that they serve fresh, right off the boat shrimp. They typically do a great job with the little crustaceans, especially the popcorn & scampi. Fresh, frozen, whatever, I've been multiple times to Endless Shrimp over the years & always come away full, sometimes bloated, but well pleased.

The Nashville Hot shrimps I had a bit over a month ago tasted no better than a box of breaded frozen shrimp that I'd by in Kroger. Heat them in a toaster oven & eat. They're fair but nothing special and the breading, naturally, never gets really crispy.

That said, I go to Gulf Shores typically once, twice a year and come close to eating my weight in them when I'm there.

RL ain't even close, but I enjoy them nonethless just as I do most any items I don't have to cook
