I caught a fish in moundville on the black warrior the other day that looked like a pike but I know they don't live this far down. Has anyone else caught one and do you know what it is?

Actually there is a type of Pike down this far. I catch these nasty things all the time on the Warrior...see if this is what you caught. click here

Yep, I caught one in Lake ST. John Louisiana back in the 50s. There was a "ditch" out Gulf Beach Highway west of Pensacola where I caught several while I was stationed in P'cola. I caught them on a white H&H and they jumped so much that often they would jump out onto the bank of the ditch.

Man, caught two last year out of big creek lake in Mobile, co on a popper. I have also caught them inDemopolis in the sloughs of the black warrior

When I lived in Camden one of the folks who built in a newly opened area off Bridgeport road built a "drive over" pond in his front yard and stocked the pond with bass and bream. There came a heavy rain and the pond was overflowing into the original ditch. He was on the over flow in a very few inchs of water obviously tryng to keep something out of the pond. I went over to help him and it was Jack fish comming up the ditch and over the pond. Many of them. They were mostly about 10 inchs long and the dang head and mouth was a big percentage of the whole fish. That fellow didn't know what they were but he knew he didn't want them in his pond.
We killed probaly a dozen before the water stopped over flowning the dam. I know there were plenty of them around the camden area back then and there probaly still is.
