Jono,

Doing so much of it ourselves has been so much more work than I had imagined, but it has brought us closer together and Mrs. Irish and Irish Jr. (What little he has helped between his full time Tech job and going to school to get his Computer Science degree) have both learned a lot of skills. Mrs. Irish has really been a trooper.

I have to rein in my goals on the weekend some so that she won't get burned out and will still want to come up on the weekends and help. We have to allow for time to just hang out with friends or just sit in the hammocks and enjoy life.

It is a lot of work for a husband and wife to build their own house on the weekends. However it is rewarding. I've noticed now that she knows how much work goes into every little detail, she doesn't flippantly just say... "Hey! Why don't we rip out this wall and enlarge the kitchen?"

She's learning how to throw stuff like a tape measure and tin snips up 25' in the air so I can catch them. It's amazing the amount of skills we as men have that we take for granted and it can be both fun and frustrating trying to teach those skills to the women we love.
