I have a tree web and LOVE it! I bought on in August and have really put it to the test this fall. I've been able to kill two does so far and will no doubt have a higher count at seasons end. Here's a little info about how I ended up with the tree web and my two cents about an awesome stand:
I started looking at buying a tree saddle several years ago for several reasons - light weight, portable and most of all mobile. Additionally, I liked the ability to shoot 360 degrees around the tree.
HOWEVER... trophyline had some sort of malfunction with a massive order of saddles... or at least thats what they were telling their distributors and their customers. No one I knew could get a hold of the company at all. The 800 line was disconnected and the local line's inbox was full. I knew of some trophyline dealers that hadn't heard from the company about the tree saddles for over a year!
I found out about Guidos Tree Web and did my research - I even called Butch (owner of Guido's Tree Web) in Mississippi and we spent about 30 minutes on the phone. He is an awesome guy. He's a third generation farmer who started playing with this stand design in the 1980s. Over the years he's perfected his stand and it is by far the most comfortable stand I've ever hunted in. Believe me - I sold my millennium hang-on stand to try this tree web out and it is more comfortable in my opinion. I spent all day today hunting in a large WMA and didn't get uncomfortable in the least... and I hunted from dawn to dusk.
I will say that it takes some getting used to. You have to figure out how to ascend the tree your way once you get used to the stand. You can have trees prepped ahead of time (as I plan to do next year). This year I've been toting in my gorilla climbing sticks and setting them up, along with 3 screw in steps at the top of the ladder (one step on the far side of the tree and one on either side of the top step of the gorilla sticks). This allows me to maneuver all the way around the tree for a shot in any direction.
As far as the tree saddle versus the tree web it's sort of a toss up. In my opinion the tree web is much more comfortable with its back support system, padded seats, and the fork under the seat that keeps your body off of the tree. However it takes longer to set up. The tree saddle is also lighter. I'd encourage you to think about how you'll use the stand and decide accordingly.
The tree web will set you back at $300 and that comes with the lumbar support. I'd recommend calling Butch - he'll call you back if he's on the tractor when you call! He helped me understand the sizing and really made me feel confident in the purchase I was making. His number is on the website.
I don't regret for a minute selling my super comfortable millennium stand and taking a chance on the tree web. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend getting this stand. Its well thought out and the quality of the material used leaves no doubt why Butch still has all his stands made in the USA.
