Most of the deer I have killed has been hunting by myself. The biggest I have ever killed was at the bottom of the mountain going down from the top at Grant Mtn into Kennamer Cove. Over 200 vertical feet over some rough terrain. I drug him a short ways then walked out to get a friend's Kawasaki Mule. It wouldn't go off the mountain. I called another buddy that lived nearby and he helped me carry it up the mountain. Bout killed us both. I killed it at 9AM and got it out of the holler around 4:30pm.
The two I have killed this year were both down hill drags. Loading them is never easy, but the ratcheted straps helps as described earlier by others.

If I'm far back in the woods its usually something like this....
walk up on deer High five self on such a spectacular shot Look around to see what route is the shortest back to a road Start dragging deer After 10 feet, realize the deer is heavy 10 more feet, switch hands 5 more feet, cuss 5 more feet, try to breathe through my nose and not my mouth 3 feet, gasp for air 3 feet, trip over a stick and bust my arse 2 inches, cuss more 1 inch, drop the damn deer and head back to the truck for the atv Walk back to the truck, unload the atv. Drive atv to deer running down every tree less than 3 inches in diameter I come across. Climb up on rear rack, brace my legs, try to pull deer up onto atv. My feet slip and I fall off the atv and drop the deer. Try it again. Lose grip on the deer and fall off the opposite side of the atv this time. Tie the deer to the trailer hitch and drag him to the truck. Swear I'm never shooting another deer by myself again. hilarious, but SO true...

Does this look like it would be a good cart? (Amazon.com Deer Cart) I have an Amazon.com gift card I need to spend that I could put towards one and I like the big wheels on this one.

Vehicle, 4 wheeler, cart....listed in order of preference. I also won't hunt a group of deer unless they choose to be living close to a road. They ain't pulling that trick of getting me to shoot one of em 12 miles from the road ever again.
