I certainly do not want it to happen, but, under no circumstances would any of these issues cause me to be ashamed of my child or turn my back on them in any way.
Now, I would certainly express my disappointment if my son came to me and said he wanted to be a baton twirler. But, I would also tell him that it was his decision, not mine.
