So I know its $322.50 for thr draw permit, but does anyone know exactly how much a Non-Resident License is?

75.00 or so dollars. Just bought mine.

I just got home from up there yesterday. Awesome experience is all I can say. The deer up there are nothing like here in Al. But to answer the question $400 will cover ya on tag & lic.

I was thinking about applying for a tag in Kansas next year... is there much public ground open to DIY hunting, or are y'all heading out with outfitters? Any info would be appreciated...

I just got back last week from a DIY Kansas hunt. There's a lot of land open to the public. They put out a hunting atlas each year that marks the Management areas & WIHA land (Walk In Hunting Access is privately owned land that's leased to the state for open access to the public). Sitting In a tree there now, if you forget to put in for tag, they are fairly easy to get nowadays, just buy the left overs. I hunt unit 11 which used to be one of the hardest archery whitetail tags to draw in the country, but three years ago they put a stop to the landowner transfer tags that the outfitters were tying up to keep everyone from hunting, now it's almost as easy as over the counter

Yea, we take a yearly duck hunting trip out tere, just wasnt sure if the license cost the same. Im familiar with the WIHA land program. Thanks for the info!

Whats the hunting quality on the WIHA property? Is it crawling with hunters? Are the land parcels big? We all hear about quality Kansas hunting - but can I expect something close to that if i made a trip up and hunted WIHA lands only?

We hunted in the western half of the state and in seven days of hunting four of us saw less than 10 hunters total around the areas we hunted. Some walked in on us, others saw a truck parked and drove on by or we saw a trucked parked and drove on. We were there a week before the rut kicked in good and before pheasant season opened so I imagine some areas could get crowded at times.

The Hunting Atlas breaks the whole state down to sections/square blocks, each section = 640 acres. WIHA areas are highlighted in the atlas and are anywhere from 1/4 Section up to several sections.

As far as the quality of hunting I can't wait to go back. Saw a lot of deer. All four of us had opportunities.
