Thanks for all the replies guys. I will be saving my pennies for a cart I think. It's a shame that Bass Pro only has one model and it has plastic wheels because I have quite a few reward points built up there but feel like rubber tires would be best.

i take my safty harness loop it ovet my left shoulder and under my right . i grab the strap with my right hand and lean forward and pull . course i gut it on the spot .

I shot a 190lb buck one afternoon a couple of years ago on the side of a ridge and of course he ran and rolled to the bottom of a very steep hardwood draw. Probably about 250 plus yards from the top of the ridge and 100 feet below the lip. Well I drug him a little until the euphoria of adrenelin wore off and decided to go get my truck and see how close I could get back to him. I was so exhausted that I almost couldn't find my way back to the truck as I tried to cut across some 7 year old planted pines to make the walk shorter. I surely wasn't thinking clearly. And Yes there were a few briar patches along the way. Anyway, I finally get to the truck and start making a road through a firebreak around the edge of the pines. The truck needed a few more scratches...gives it character. I arrive at the top of the ridge where my stand was located halfway down a point where three ridges run down into the draw. I get out of the truck and it is dark by now, so my headlights are shining into the abyss of limbs above the hardwood draw. I roll out the full length of my winch cable, 2-25 foot chains, 1-30 foot chain, 1-30 foot tow/snatch rope, some unkown length of 550 para cord and my bow pull up rope and I winched that sucker up the ridge. When I finally got him there I untied the rope threw it over a limb in a nearby tree and winched him up, backed the truck underneath and lowered him down into the bed. I threw the chains and rope into the bed and proceeded around the firebreak. I forgot to unplug the remote to the winch and it eventually got knocked off of the brushguard somewhere along the way, but I heard it hitting the transfer case when I got on the dirt road. I've thought alot about that day of hunting alone and how much work it can be to get a deer out of the woods. It also made me realize that shot placement means more than what part of the target you aim for...you should also consider where your target is going to be when the shot is over. From the first time I saw CAM's signature line, I got it! "Don't let a dead deer kill ya". May all of your kills be over flat land.

I run over whatevers in my way to get to the deer with my 4 wheeler.I drug 1 deer out and said that chits for the birds.Last day of season last year I had a pretty big 6 point come out almost under my stand.When I shot him he ran so I bolted another one in the chamber and right before he got to the 4 wheeler trail I got him again.He dropped and slid right to the middle of the trail all I had to do is pull right up to him on the trail and my brother helped me load him up.But I will take out trees with the old suzuki to get one cause I ain't dragging one unless I have too.

Killed a 6 point and a doe on choccolocca last year. Google earth showed a 3/4 mile path from the creek bottom to the road on a ridge(elevation change about 300ft). Shot both before 9:00am, no tracking involved and field dressed by 9:30am. AT 3:30pm, and I had both deer and my climber back at the truck. If I EVER hunt THAT spot again, It would take some serious head-bone to make me squeeze the trigger. Dragged them out with my HSS vest dragstrap by the way.

I usually kill em about 2 miles away and coon killer is usually with me and I let him get the heavy end or I kill them in the deepest hollers I can find and once again get coon killer to start dragging up the hill while I push ......

hey coon killer how about when I came down and shot the buck across the rd then came over on your side and shot two more in that bottom.......you told me you wouldnt hunt with me anymore ....too much work involved

I once was walking back to the club house from my morning hunt, down this dirt 4 wheeler trail that led to the field I had been hunting. I jumped a couple of does and they took off down the trail towards the club house. I shouldered my rifle and waited for them to get to the turn that leads to the camp. Right before they got there I whistled loudly and they turned broadside and looked at me. I busted the biggest one and she dropped right there. I drug her all of about 30 yards into the club yard.

Another guy that hunted with us once pulled into camp, while everyone was out hunting and had 3 does standing by the skinning rack. He stopped the truck and his boy got out and shot one. She dropped. No dragging.

The black rope for the safety harness on my summit stand works great for a drag rope.

I do not use an atv when hunting so I just drag the deer to wherever I can get my truck to. It never has seemed to be that big of a deal but then again my idea of fun is going to the gym five days a week and picking things up and putting them down.

Yeah this is a very real deal. We don't have an ATV, our tractor doesn't work and the logging roads to a lot of the low land on our property are impassible to vehicles due to erosion. We now call that area safe zones for the deer. In fact, we relocated a buddy stand from that bottom area cuz it would have made us drag a deer 300+ yrds over two hills to get back to the truck! Not worth it!

I drag it to the nearest trail (usually not much more than 200 yards). That's not the tough part. The tough part is getting it into the bed. I have a ratcheted pully. Back the truck under a limb. Hook the top hook to the limb and the bottom to the leg or head and pull. The bad news is you're pulling dead weight. The good news is the ratchet keeps it in place. i can usually get the deer almost verticle, then i swing the bottom end off the ground and into the truck. Then release the ratchet on the pulley and it drops into the truck. Got it at Lowe's for less than $20.

It's not without effort and it's a great way to warm up, even on the coldest of days! Beats the HECK outa hugging it and doing dead lifts! My back won't put up with that nonsense anymore!

drag with a 4-wheeler to a spot where I can get my truck, then load into truck with a winch on a swing arm. It will load 500+ pounds...

3-toe, there is no need to carry anything to "hang" a deer to cut it up. Use a piece of plastic to lay deer on. Cut down middle of back, remove backstraps. Cut down outside of legs and remove shoulders, hams. Come in from the side to remove inside tenderloins. Skin down side of neck and get any neck meat ya want.

Ya never have to remove the guts or skin. Ya can bone out the hams, shoulders or carry em whole.
