Wow what a week last week was. There was several events that took place that will forever be lasting memories....

Wednesday started out the busy schedule with taking my middle child to the McWane Center for a field trip...had a blast just spending the day and having a small hand in mine for the largest part of the day.

Thursday I sent my oldest daughter a text ofcourse at school asking if she wanted to go on the youth hunt Friday since we hadnt really talked about it and the lumber business has been so bad lately couldnt really afford to not be there in the office. But we wound up being able to get her 1st deer and there was smiles, tears and high fives. 115# spike as she said...117 yard shot.

Saturday morning started out early getting to the ball park at 7:30...those that know me I have been in travel softball for last 7 years and this past summer/fall due to some issues and finances didnt play or coach. The team ran the gauntlet in 5 games undefeated scoring 57 runs and allowing 6...Team was thrown together for a good time with kids from Graceville, Fl north to Gardendale....never played or practice together...Wound up the night at 12:30 at Krispy Kreme with everyone as a send off of a great day of softball.

With kids tired from Saturday oldest daughter had a friend spend the night with full intentions of going back to the camp...so off I go with 2-14 year olds and a 8 year old in a shooting house. Early into the afternoon they thought they seen a "Wabbit" that wound up being a "Diller".

after watching the "WABBIT" they had decided they wanted to rid the field of it...when a doe and another deer stepped out. It was a friends turn as mine said...so she handed the gun off and after 15 minutes of calming down takes the 90 yard shot...this doe couldnt have taken a more direct appraoch in the thickest briar infested part of the wood I dont think...tracking with 3 girls is a chore itself right at dark and believe me.....they werent much help at dragging..LOL

After the long drive to take her home and her deer...we finally made it home about 9 for showers and teeth time. Walking in found my son beyond giving a crap what had happened and asleep.

This has been a very trying year with the economy, divorce and personal issues. This particular week/weekend being able to enjoy the important things in life with the kids, going back to what I love in coaching and teaching with my own kids and others....made me realize that being a father, a coach, a teacher is all secured with a hug, a kiss, a good night and a I LOVE YOU DAD and THANK YOU.

Awesome.

I didn't realize there was a youth hunt on Friday....or today for that matter.

Sweet.
