Two things must happen:

1.) You must aggressively save. This can be cash, investment, buy land, whatever suits you. It is your responsibility to educate yourself on how to do this. Once you have a little bit of money, be prepared to not have many friends or close family members. The first time you tell them "no" about loaning them money or helping them out of a tight spot may be the last time they wish to speak to you.

2.) You must get your income as high as possible. This typically involves owning your own business(es).

Do not finance depreciating assets. Do not finance appreciating assets unless you have to.

Be frugal. If you don't need it, don't buy it. I pack my lunch more often than not now and I sure don't have to. I have not purchased so much as a soda at a gas station in years. I purchase gas at gas stations and if I want soda, I will purchase it on my trip to the super market.

I used to feel so sorry for my secretary (still do actually). She had a brand new customized truck every two years. She never made more than 50k and her husband never made more than 100k. I was driving a 10-15 year old car that got good gas mileage back and forth to work (still do) at my day job. Oddly enough, she still feels sorry for me for having to drive such cheap cars.

At least she thought that until I retired at 41 and left her there where she will work until she is unable to or dies.
