And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, either. I save screws, nails, things, even tinfoil we covered a dish with, because IMO it's foolish to throw away stuff that could be resused like that. Heck, we buy plastic Solo cups and I reuse those.

When something gets truly outdated and a new thing is better-faster-more economical or efficient then I consider getting a new one. We had an old TV that was just fine but the new cable high-speed stuff - it wouldn't handle that. So we donated it instead of throwing it away.

We have a little pile of bricks behind our fence. Been there 13 years. I needed some to weigh down some brushpiles in the pond. A few bricks, some zip ties and voila. Done. No expense.
