I want to see what hunters on here decide what trail camera process and purchase is thought through before buying them just like the weapons and accessories you painstakingly take the time to choose in order to hunt big game.
Mid range cameras range anywhere from $100.00 to $375.00 bucks on a new unit. Most of these type cameras "peter out" after a couple seasons normally. Buy, sell, and replenish is what the "cheap o" camera makers use when they have them made in China.
Remember: "Buying cheap merchandise to save money, is like stopping a clock to save time.

I picked up two stealth cams at Bass pro this weekend for 79.99 ea. Simple 12mp, 80 ft range (really maybe 40-50ft), IR (no white flash), and had descent reviews. I've moved from Moultrie and WI to Stealth cam and browning. Best decision i've made so far.

Man, I don't want your head to explode - but I just bought a cam on sale for $50 and picked up a pack of underwear at Wal-mart.
They'll both last me long enough for the money I reckon.

Make sure if you get the huckle berries while on the stand or sitting in the blind you don't dig too deep. You'll probably tear the bottom out of them.
Good luck on those cams that have a slow trigger detection
resulting in images without any wild life on them. LOL.

I've moved from Moultrie and WI to Stealth cam and browning. Best decision i've made so far. I hope those work out for you for at least a couple of seasons. I've noticed many of "mid ranged priced" cams have way better night flash output than years ago. I started off years ago with these mid range priced cameras running them 24-7 365 and they all had some kind of hiccup either a month in or puked out by the before 2 years was up. The "made in China" factor and low-grade electronic components turned out to be the culprit. A good lesson learned when buying Chinese produced trail cams.

I've owned at least 6 moultrie game cams, and all but one has bit the dust. WI lasted maybe 8 months to a year. Good quality pics so far, and the browning has great image quality for catching the herd running. So far so good.

Let's see I have two Primos Truth Cams that are working great after at least 4 years, a moultrie M-80 that makes me wish I had bought a dozen, a bushnell trophy cam that after three years is still impressing me, just bought a Muddy on sale at Gander for $50 that seems to be a pretty dang good camera so far, but time will tell...... Just so you know I am not scared to spend money on a trail camera if it has a feature I feel is worth as my two Covert Verizon Blackhawk will attest too

I just picked up a cheap trail cam this afternoon. $39 for a stealth cam base model. I'm running 6 or 7 of their Px-14s and one older Moultrie. Most are two years old and still work flawlessly. I haven't paid more than $60 for any of them.....

I'd say my trail cameras cost an average of $50. Your Reconyx XR6 Ultra Fire has a price of $600. So I can buy 12 cameras for the price of one of those. If I get 2 years out of each camera I've got 24 years of life. Is that reconyx gonna last that long?
