As a younger dummy, 13 shots at several does from over 200 yards with a model 30-30. Like I said , as a young dummy. Did kill a buck and doe then.

I'm sure that was terrifying, but thats an awesome story.

My personal best : 4, and it was with a bow

Witnessing first hand : I was probably five, sitting with my dad while he was bow hunting. He shot a little dos at about 20 yards and hit her back. Long story short he ran out of arrows and started having to pull them out of the living deer to shoot her again. Brutal hunt.

5 times with a 7 mag. Medium 8 point. All good shots. I had lost a really good palmated nine about 100 yards from where this guy walked out to meet two does the year before (the reason I had a shiny new 7 mag that would pick boogers instead of a 12 gauge with buckshot and slugs). I was expecting to shoot a doe on the only two doe days we had and was lined up on one of the nannies when he blew at them from behind me. I was set up on a hillside overlooking a massive swamp bottom. He came down the hill knowing I was there and I shot him way the hell out in that bottom. Three shots later and I thought I lost sight of him but he popped up in a cut out survey line on the side of the hill trying to get back to his thicket. The last round went up his spine as he turned straight away when he saw me turn and drag the rifle over to my right.

He was still alive a minute later when I got to him. He died before I could get the rifle layed down and a knife out.

Actually I shot a 120" 8 point on family land more than that but it doesn't count as I was hosing him with an autoloading pistol. Shot him twice with the same 7 mag and trailed him up and not dead. Emptied a magazine of ten 10mm hydrashoks into him when he jumped and ran about ten feet after administering what I thought was a coup de grace.

I'd rather not sure any of my misadventures in this category.

I shot a doe with with my .357 Marlin one time. I was about 14 and wanted a challenge, so went and sat in a bow stand in a greenfield one afternoon. Doe got to about 30 yds and I popped her in the neck. Believe I fired 9 shots and hit her 6 or 7 times before she made it out of the field. Came up on her tracking a few hours later still alive, shot her a few more times, then had to finish her off with a knife. The numbers are fuzzy, but I hit that deer either 9 or 11 times.

Same thing with me but with a .22.
I was about 12-13 and we were dropping a heifer one day behind the house.
I shot her between the eyes about 6 times but she wouldn't go down.
My dad gets pissed at me for fluffing the shot so he takes a couple shots. Still standing.
Then my grandad takes a couple shots and she finally went down.
Worst day ever. I hated shooting cows after that.

A few years ago, I killed a 160 lb hog while turkey hunting with 5 shots of 2oz #5 lead. I let him feed up to about 10 steps from me and then started blasting. He ran in circles squealing up a storm until the last shot dropped him.

First deer I ever killed I was 11 or 12, yearling knothead, probably took only one shot (.243 hollow point inside ten yards), however I had already had three different deer get away either by miss or poor shot. I pinwheeled the first shot in the front shoulder, it fell. Probably (No not probably) was dead right there. I was alone behind my house where I grew up. I shot it five more times. If it twitched I shot until I was out of bullets. The dang thing weighed about 40# but it could have been a 10 point and wouldn't have been more proud. We didn't have any trouble finding a bloody spot to bloody my face! I think the most since then has been 2x.

I have hunted ducks when 7 or more hunters emptied their guns at a duck. When it hit the water 10 or more shots on the water to finish it off. So 30+ shotgun shells.

I bet that was some good eating.

That kind of foolishness happens when the guy calling the shot is misjudging distance. Long shots on ducks are not often very effective. Typically one "golden BB" brings the duck down by breaking a wing. The duck will dive and is shot at while very little of the duck is above water. It is very good for the ammunition industry!

Took a buddy up to Illinois about 10 years ago. He'd never killed anything big with a bow.
Really nice 2 yr old 8 walks under him and he loses it. Hits the deer in the spine. The buck belly crawls away from him while my buddy puts all 6 arrows in him including 1 practice point.
Called me said he had a good one down. I get to him and the deer looks like a porcupine. Took him back the next year and he killed a 160.
