Hey guys! Been absent awhile! Got married and moved to a new house and all that.
Last night I replaced the CV axle on my 06 Silverado. This is basically a follow up post to the fix. About 2 weeks ago my truck started making this awful whining noise. The whining noise you would expect from low power steering fluid or malfunctioning pump�but it was louder and it was predominantly when I turned left. I checked the fluid and it was fine so I leaned toward a bad pump but still something didn�t sit right with it being when I turned left. Last Sunday I put on new brake pads and when I did I noticed grease all over the CV assembly (all over the place really). So I thought maybe that noise along with the normal popping from the CV might be the culprit. But, surfing forums I never did see anyone that said they had that loud noise from turning, only people on forums saying they had the same issue turning left a low speeds.
Anyway, I got the replacement done last night just hoping it would fix the noise and from what little I have driven it (last night and today to work), it seems like it did fix it. Have y'all ever experienced this when doing this repair? I'm asking because even though it seems fixed, I'm wanting to make sure I don't need to keep looking for what caused that racket.
