I'd get the .308. If for the only reason being the ease of finding ammo.
I have the opposite opinion.
It's a hunting rifle so likely shot 5-10 times a year so ammo availability isn't a big deal to me within reason because the consumption is so low.
280 isn't Walmart available but still very much available at least in Lee County.
