The kind that other club members love, especially if you clean up the camp while they are in the stand.

I turn 70 this month, and have hunted for 60 years. I'll hunt whitetails as long as I'm alive, and still get excited just spotting a doe in the Alabama woods in January or February. Five years ago, I thought I'd try hunting in Africa just to give it a try. Five years later, I've gone hunting in Africa four times and am hooked on it. I'll still hunt whitetails in 'Bama, but Africa gets my hunting juices flowing. It's cheaper than an elk hunt out west, and I can shoot multiple animals in one trip. So far, Ive shot 7 gemsboks, 6 baboons, 3 jackals, 2 kudu, 2 warthogs, 1 zebra, 1 springbok, 1 steenbok, 1 eland, 1 blue wildebeest, 1 black wildebeest, a rock hyrax and 1 waterbuck. I've passed on a bunch of critters, since I have a limited retiree's budget.

I've killed quite a few deer, have 3 on the wall, nothing humongous but mature deer. I have 2 kids and NOW it is all about them. My son has harvested 3 deer at 14 years of age that are bigger than anything I have killed, one of which scored 151",and weighed 250. We have several young hunters in our club and I so enjoy watching them take a mature buck. I am still out there every chance I get BUT it is now to enjoy God's creation, my getaway, and the comradery of the CAMP. We eat about 3-4 deer every year so it is about the meat also. I love the bush hogging, planting, setting the stands up, and out foxing the quarry.

I know what you mean but sometimes things out of your control happen and you can no longer hunt. I'm only 49 and the shadows are getting long and light is fading on my hunting and property work.

I just like to eat them. I don't care if it's got horns or not or if I'm the one that kills it. I still mostly dog hunt and without the dogs I'd probably never go. I usually buy a couple boxes of shells and give to the kids. I also tell them I want a return on my investment and get a doe or 2 back every year.

Could care less if I kill another deer. Cooking and watching football is what I enjoy. Now turkey hunting is another matter. Think I might have missed two mornings this past season.
