Just FYI: First Lite has a sale on some of its clothes, if anyone's looking or interested. http://www.firstlite.com/products/sale.html?mc_cid=d96a2f6b7d&mc_eid=0529f1da83

It makes you appreciate it more.
I used to be a Walmart camo guy, and while I'm not above that by any means, quality camo is some count. It would be hard to go back to camo that is poor.y made and designed.

Good stuff. Not really necessary in AL, but makes every situation more comfortable.

To each his own. I merely posted it because I know some folks like Sitka, First Lite, or Kuiu and some like Walls, Gamehide or Carhartt. I like whatever keeps me warm and dry the best.

You have any experience with that First Lite stuff Clem? I might get the wife some base layers for Xmas.

I've only seen it and fondled it at trade shows but have not purchased any FL gear.
To me, Merino wool is Merino wool whether it's by FL or SmartWool or someone else. I have some Icebreaker Merino wool base layers and UA compression layers that work quite well so I haven't bought anything else. Of those two, I prefer the wool by a smidge.
That said, I've been given good First Lite recommendations by folks I trust, so I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.

The First Lite sale price is better than the reg price of the SmartWool.

You have any experience with that First Lite stuff Clem? I might get the wife some base layers for Xmas. I have about 8 different pieces of it. It's good stuff. You can wear it a long time without needing to wash it. It's an underlayer though, so it will not hold up to sharp corners, briars, stickers, barbed wire, etc... I wore under armour before this stuff, and they aren't in the same category. 100% Merino wool is the way to go.

I like it a lot too. I only have some base layers and mid layers but it is a game changer.
No stink, no clammy feeling after hiking for two hours, not too hot, not too cold. It is natures perfect fiber.
My favorite piece is their 170 g t-shirt. Base layer in the winter, top layer when its 120 degrees outside. So versatile. My wife has a chama hoody and wears it all the time.
My only complaint (and its a small one) is that it is sort of delicate. It will snag and some pieces that have been washed, definitely show some wear. Its merino wool, so is to be expected. I handled some kuiu merino mid layer stuff and it definitely had a denser weave/coating on the wool and seemed like it would hold up better long term. Might have to try one of those out.

I have about every item of FL gear you can get...I am part of their design R&D program. You can get lots of their stuff in Real Tree at a very steep discount right now, as they are reducing the inventory.
The Corregate pants dont do well in our briars, but I have not had an issue with any other gear. I you have questions on specific items, I will be happy to answer what I can.
The super cold weather gear is legit....if you are a stand hunter, or have an older member of the family that stays cole, it is worth the investment.

Not really authorized for that, but I will add this: if you are a member of the military, LEO or other qualifying agency; First Lite can be purchased on Experticity.com/Promotive.com for a pretty steep discount.
