The local newspaper writer suggested "Rattle Traps" in his Sunday fishing report for Guntersville. But where you can throw one of these "Rattle Traps" outside the main channel, not get fouled on grass and catch a bass worth catching, I don't know. I'd stick with the ledges and grass lines with the Texas-rigged 10-inch worm in plum, junebug, black or green pumpkin or a 3/4 ounce football jig with a NetBait Paca Craw or Strike King Rage Craw trailer. Check the BFHP page suggested in the link above. The guides post reliable info that can be a starting point. If you don't want to try the ledges, hit the shallow coves with a frog.

Fish 10 inch worms in and around the grass in 6 foot of water and under, darker colors are my preference. Most consistent bite I get.

Sam Bass, a good angler and guide on the G, has a solid report: http://www.wmi.org/bassfish/reports/151597.htm

Wore some schoolers out today, caught 3 or 4 good fish at some of my spots on 10 inch worms, but it was slow. Hit a grass flat and they were there, no size but any time I can boat 50 plus in one afternoon I am all over it. Caught 10 or 12 stripers or hybrids, not sure which, but they were in there with them.

Stripers are long and lean with unbroken black lines on their body.
Hybrids look more like a flattened football and have broken lines.
Sounds like a good day!

Different colors, black with red glitter (zoom) is always a good choice. I haven't found a color in a 10 inch worm they won't bite. I don't think the color or lure for that matter is as important on Guntersville as it is on most lakes. Just stay on the grass edges in less than 7 ft and cast away.

Too many people just cruising out there, you need a deep sea boat if you get on any big water. My 19 ft ranger seemed like a john boat this weekend. Caught some fish though.

Black Yamamoto. Yamamoto what? Worm? Senko? Fat Baby Craw? Gary only makes about 493,303 different baits and colors.
