Thanks everyone! The wind has been horrible out here today so we slept in then went and had breakfast about 10am. We threw some camo in the truck just in case but figured on just riding around and relaxing. About 3pm we drive by a big field and see 2 gobblers and 4 hens that are basically squatted in the field fighting the wind. We pulled into a spot down the road and after studying Google Earth figured we might could get in their way if we came around the back of the field and set up on a cross fence. When we drove back by 2 more gobblers had just crossed the road going into the field to join the others. We get set up about 100 yards behind the field but we're downhill from the birds and even worse downwind. 40 mph winds today so calling them was out but every time the wind slowed down any I would yelp as loud as I could. After about 20 minutes of watching the skyline for any sign of our birds I catch movement to my left and there stands 4 Jakes that had slipped up behind us. They've already found us but are acting more nervous about going back the way they came than they were of coming on around us. Then I see why as a Longbeard charges into them. He was to my extreme left and Amanda was on my right side so I saved the Jakes a beating. 10.5" beard 1.25" spurs 19lbs.

Day 3 begins! It's 38� here this morning but we can see stars for the first time and the wind isn't blowing finally!

Been a beautiful day today but we haven't been on a bird all day. Called up 4 hens individually thinking at any time a gobbler would follow one in.
We're set up where I killed my bird yesterday afternoon again now hoping some will cruise through.

No luck today! Finally saw 2 longbeards this afternoon but they were headed off our property and there was no getting around them.
Gonna give them one last try in the morning before we head home.
