There are a lot of highway dept. cameras along that stretch of road. You might get lucky if you wanted to check those out. I guess you would have to go through the police dept to get access. Sorry to hear about that happening to you.

Anyone with any firearms training will tell you a jammed auto is a hammer, nothing more. The recommendation of a revolver is the most valid. Point and shoot. The point most are missing is this lady was driving. She is not going to open fire thru her windshield. Her concern was primarily for her childs safety. She did the only thing a sane person could. Had it escalated her options would have changed. Thank God it didn't. This just proves how low our Country has sank. These kind of animals need to be euthanized.

Why is a Glock any more dangerous than any other pistol? If you have to depend on a safety to avoid a negligent discharge you shouldn't be carrying a firearm at all.

Yes Glocks are dangerous. If you won't take my expert opinion (yes I am an expert by all military standards) then ask Jawbone or BhamFred or any LEO.

Every LEO I know including my father who is retired after 28 years always carried a Glock as a duty weapon, and still carries a G26. And if I'm not mistaken Glock is the most commonly carried weapon by LEO's. There is nothing more dangerous about a Glock. I would like to hear a legitimate reason as to why you, or anyone else thinks this way. I am not a Glock "fanboy" as many claim to be, I just think they are good reliable guns with a solid reputation. Not trying to pick a fight here just legitimately interested to know why.

Ironically its police officers who most often shoot themselves with their own Glock.
This topic was about guns for women and/or novice shooters. A Glock is not the best choice. Bottom line.

I'm a huge believer in a revolver. Throw it in a draw and 20 years later open it up, pick up the pistol, pull the trigger and it will go bang.

Someone's wife with a Glock isn't near as dangerous as some trench monkey with an M9. You'll shoot your eye out.

Everybody has their choice as to what to carry. Does that mean what I carry is more or less dangerous than what you may. No.

I have carried many different pistols over the years. Even as a LEO we had different weapons over the years.

I have never been in a firefight directly and I hope I never am. I know what I trained for. I know what I am capable of. That doesn't mean a hill of beans when things really happen.

I would rather be tried by 12, than carried by 6.

why is a glock more dangerous than any auto? with the triggers they install today it would be very very hard to accidentally discharge one

Or a double action revolver. If you pull the trigger on either one, and they are loaded, they shoot.

Most double action pistols have a stiffer pull on single action.
An auto with one in the chamber is just like a cocked double action. Without a safety and accident waiting to happen. I saw guys shot in the army with 45's because they failed to engage the safety and put it in their holster.

If your father's 28 years of experience makes him an expert, and God bless him for his service, does my 31 year count for anything? Like I said earlier, Glocks are great for people that train before getting one and then regularly after getting one. You asked for reasons, I'll give you some that have caused the inadvertent fires I've personally witnessed. First, unlike the Berettas we carried and many others, the Glock will fire without a magazine or clip in the gun. People have a tendency to drop the clip and assume it is empty and pull the trigger before clearing the chamber. That is something that is common because it requires learning something new and making it a habit. Second of all, they have no external safety, as most know, and a light trigger weight. Many untrained, and even trained, although poorly trained apparently, people grab a handgun and their finger goes straight to the trigger. They do this in qualifications shooting at paper targets so you can imagine what will happen in a stressful situation. Miami was one of the first LEO agencies to go to Glocks, but they almost threw them in the ocean because officers were shooting themselves in the ass cheeks and calfs from pulling the gun from a holster with the finger on the trigger.
They are great guns if you learned and trained a few little features before getting the gun and then training to make sure you have no bad habits from other guns.

For a woman that is not very experienced in handguns, I always recommend a revolver such as a Lady Smith. When asked about for around the house, I make that easy and say a shotgun with tactical buckshot.

I never claimed he was an expert. But from what you said Glocks are more dangerous for people without trigger discipline, got it.

Bull doo doo. I think you have your action references mixed up, but the trigger pull on a glock, or any other striker fired auto, is just as hard and probably longer than a revolver in double action mode and it is the same every time. It would be fair to compare a double action auto to the trigger pull on a double action revolver, but safeties do not prevent people from shooting themselves. Trigger and muzzle discipline do that.

In a panic situation even trained professionals sometimes freeze up.
It happens fast, catches you off guard, adrenaline rush kicks in. I've seen people actually forget to breathe. No joke.
Now if your wife or daughter finds herself in that panic mode, what would you rather give her?
A DA revolver or a Glock?
I know my answer.

I know what your answer is too, but what is the difference? I personally feel a revolver suits most females the best, but it is due to them lacking the strength to work the slide to load or clear jams efficiently on an auto. Neither a glock or revolver have safeties, and they both shoot when the trigger is pulled back. I would even go as far as saying a glock trigger is less prone to accidental discharge than a revolver being fired in single action mode.
