The bunch on the General Forum are so pre-occupied with whining, bitching and thinking they are comedians with their little quips, that they are missing the implications of this change of regime in Montgomery.
I guess they had rather bitch afterwards than look forwards??
Because, so far, Clem is the only one to relaize what may happen!

Has anybody considered that we may wind up with a new DNR Commissioner??

That is an appointed position that is normally changed during most transitions.

Possibly new Advisory Board members, too. The CAB and Commissioner serve at the pleasure of the governor, who can dismiss and replace them for no reason other than he/she just wants to do so.

Every current member of the board was appointed by Bentley for a 6-year term. All could be replaced, along with the commissioner, in a snap.

So....If I understand you correctly, Chuck Sucks , could, be replaced???...Could....Non committal, but is this typical of a new regime to replace DNR official's? If so, I'm all for it...

I doubt seriously that our new Governor is going to be making big changes at the ADNR anytime soon. She got a lot more important things on her plate right now I am sure.....

I have no idea what may transpire.
I had lost faith in the whole system after all of the Bentley controversy came out and he was able to maintain his office so long. But, change has finally come. And, who knows how deep it may go!

I don't think so. Only what, 2 years left? Think she rides it out. It would be nice to stop the bleeding now. But not gonna happen, IMO. In todays federal politics, everyone gets changed. States are going that route even down to the lowest appointed position. Now in 2 years....

Now this is my forecast. Just like a weather forecast, might be right, might not.

Dont think it will even be on her radar to do any changes unless they get a LOT of feedback hitting them.

doubt you see any significant changes overall. She has to set herself up for re-election and making a bunch of enemies right off the bat is not a good way to start that process.

I see that angle, Skinny.

I also know that there has been a concerted effort 'behind he scenes' to get Bentley gone. Those lines are already drawn, and have been for a while now.

Just a matter of who's on board and who isn't!

No, that is incorrect. Sykes is a hired employee. The commissioner and CAB members are appointed.

Ivey asked Tuesday morning for letters of resignation from all cabinet members and (presumably) Executive Branch staff members so she could evaluate who will stay or go. That's typical with any change, even or maybe especially so during times of turmoil.

DCNR generally is removed from the idiotic shenanigans across North Union Street. Doubtful she will do anything immediate or at all, as Skinny noted. With just 19 months until the election and less time before the primary, fences have to be mended and money raised for a campaign.

But you never know.

DCNR Commissioner serves at the pleasure of the governor, but the WFFD Director works differently. In the event of a WFFD Director vacancy, the Governor & Commish appoint a new Director. After completing a mandatory 6-month probationary period, the new Director becomes permanent a merit system employee and not subject to removal by the Governor or Commish.

Is this before or after being vetted by others to find out their stance on fences, corn and feeding, limits, zones, tags and whatnot?

Imagine this....A US Senator, Sessions, from Wilcox County, a Governor,Ivey, and ??????? for Commissioner! How about you Swamphunter...are you in!!

Immediate issues for the CAB will be tackling issues like legalizing telephoning for catfish, Night hunting, road hunting, shooting from a boat, CRAPPIE STOCKING INTO mILLER'S fERRY, reintroduction of fallow deer, etc.

She'd have to sober up first and from what I hear that's not likely to happen
