Octoberdreamin told me someting that I didn't know while I was trying to hunt with a cough. I have a Loritab 7.5 prescription because of my two back surgeries. I don't take them much but keep them in my truck because I have kidney stones. Anyway...you can take 1/2 of one and it will keep you from caughing because of the codeine. Same thing that prescription caugh syrup has in it. Lortab does not have codeine in it. It is an opiate. It contains hydrocodone. That is not the same thing as codeine. In fact, Codeine is often given to people that are allergic to hydrocodone.

If you're taking drugs and climbing a tree, for goodness sakes please wear a safety harness and be careful.
Drink more water, too ... between dry weather in autumn/winter and the crud we all battle, staying hydrated will help prevent illnesses, coughs, etc.

An empty gatorade bottle with a few 1/4" holes in the bottom stuffed with cotton balls is the same thing as a cough silencer they sell in cabelas. No need to worry about germs, when you are done hunting throw it away and make another one.
Water bottle hole is too small, use either gatorade or powerade bottle.
Just don't grab the wrong one to cough in if you use another one for a pee bottle

I usually do the peppermint as well, but the Lortab will stop the caugh. It is hydrocodone, and it will dry up runny noses as well. My Dr. Prescribed them to me when I had the flu once, and that is what I prefer over the terrible tasting caugh syrups.

Turning the heat down below 65 degrees at night helps prevent sickness too. Keeps the mucous membranes from getting so dried out.

Sorry Troy. I guess I thought codeine was what was in it. What ever is in it works and 1/2 a tablet doesn't effect me. I hunt mostly from the ground or shooting house anyway. A lawn chair is my friend.

I have one of those "cough silincers"--a big joke as far as I am concerned. Get you some Fishermans friend cough drops. If you can stand the taste they will kill the cough.
