Probably my easiest hunt ever and it was over at 7:30. Yesterday afternoon at 6:15 my son text me pics of a bird strutting in his green field on his land. He watched the turkey leave the field at 6:20. Knowing he was gonna roost right there I asked my son if he wanted to kill him this morning. He said he had to work but told me to come hunt him. I got there at 5:45am in the rain. I had knee surgery 2 weeks ago and my mobility is still limited and I can't sit in the same position very long so I brought a ground blind and asked my wife if she wanted to go. My wife had never been turkey hunting and I wanted her to hear one gobble. My wife is 6 months pregnant and she has pneumonia so I figured it would be really good for her to come sit in the rain. I set up a hen and Jake decoy in his green field then set up our blind under some trees. At 7:10 the rain had slacked up some and some crows started making noise. He gobbled once and he was about a hundred yards away. I called just a little but enough that I knew he had to hear me. At 7:30 he came out in the plot and made a bee line for my decoys. He went straight to the Jake. I couldn't shoot without destroying my decoy with tss. Finally he kicked the schit out of my decoy and just stood over him. The tss from my 870 compact did the job at 20 yards. He possibly flopped once before he died. I was glad my wife got to see the show. 20 pounds even. 11.5" beard. 7/8 spurs on both sides.
