Baiting is putting out something not already there to attract, lure, etc., a deer or wildlife. Right? That's something we can agree on? You put out a bag of corn or make a food plot or dump a bushel of sweet potatoes or apples out there and it wasn't already there ... that's baiting. Right? Food plots are just a legalized version of it.
A tree growing that is dropping acorns or persimmons naturally and has been there for 20-30-50 years ... hunting around that ain't baiting. That's a natural food source already in place that wasn't planted, introduced or enhanced by man. By common sense logic that isn't baiting. You're taking advantage of the existing situation, which has been done for centuries and clearly is logically considered to be hunting or part of hunting.
By the "anything they eat is bait" definition, we should all be watching fields of dirt with no vegetation or water sources.
