I love the greenfield argument. Its completely idiotic but always entertaining. And its the first words out if the mouths of the masterbaiters. Truth
If you’re a common sense person, you probably don’t feel you have a home in this world right now. If you’re a Christian, you know you were never meant to.

I'd pay an extra $100 for a night hunting permit

Green fields dont occur naturally in the pines where I hunt. I've yet to see any wheat, oats, eye show up every year on their own. Hunting over a food source is the same by definition. It may be easier to pour out a bucket of corn, but the end result is the same. Some of you can pretend it's different, but it is not. I guess by Burbank's definition hunting around anything a deer likes to eat is hunting over bait. Is hunting over a white oak flat dropping acorns hunting over bait?

You don't know me or a damn thing about the way I hunt. I've only started putting corn out since the area portion was redifined and I have never hunted anywhere close to it. The hipcrosy is thick and pungent. Next time you sit in a plush shooting house holding your 500 yard gun, tell yourself what a real man you are when you blast that Doe with her head down in the green grass that you planted with your 20k tractor. The masterbaiters try to find a way to ease their guilt. Men know right from wrong, deep down, but those who won't give up their shameful ways try to justify it by any means. See Burbank, I understand that you're only trying to convince yourself because you know I'm right.

Baiting is putting out something not already there to attract, lure, etc., a deer or wildlife. Right? That's something we can agree on? You put out a bag of corn or make a food plot or dump a bushel of sweet potatoes or apples out there and it wasn't already there ... that's baiting. Right? Food plots are just a legalized version of it.
A tree growing that is dropping acorns or persimmons naturally and has been there for 20-30-50 years ... hunting around that ain't baiting. That's a natural food source already in place that wasn't planted, introduced or enhanced by man. By common sense logic that isn't baiting. You're taking advantage of the existing situation, which has been done for centuries and clearly is logically considered to be hunting or part of hunting.
By the "anything they eat is bait" definition, we should all be watching fields of dirt with no vegetation or water sources.

I agree 100 percent with everything you posted. Food plots (and I plant them too) are in the same category as dumping corn. 100 year old oak trees are not. Well if we get rain like last year again that's exactly what we'll be doing.

Both.
Killing -- Sitting on a food plot planted specifically for hunting season and waiting on a buck to walk out to shoot it.
Hunting -- Scouting, woodsmanship, choosing stand sites, picking the right wind, studying the deer to learn its habits-locations.
Both are enjoyable and legal.
I have mixed views of your definitions. I agree but on the other hand it is all fair chase. But who are you or I to establish the definitions. If people used my definitions the world would probably be more screwed than it is. One thing for sure, we could discuss this for 100 pages and be back where we started.

It is fair chase in either situation, no doubt, unless you're in the big pen little pen mountain pen in Pelham!

everybody knows that pouring out corn makes deer think they are in a pen. it makes them only walk in daylight and big bucks flock to it. no wonder it's illegal.

I personally don't give a flying chitt if corn is legal or illegal to hunt over. I just wish the morons in Montgomery(all of em) could write a halfwit common sense law. Just add the words exempting deer and hogs from the current baiting law. Simple as hell, but apparently too simple for single diget IQ folks in Montgomery.
Screw that 100yardsandoutofsight, area, feeder requiring, need a permit bullchitt. Good Lord, are you folks in Montgomery that retarded?????????

You're damn right I would! I'll put that crack for deer in the middle of my big ass green field while I sit in my shooting house drinking coffee. Will I kill a deer that goes to the bait station? Maybe maybe not. That would be left up to me to decide based on the overall population of the herd on our property and the area of which I'm hunting.

Food plots .... are in the same category as dumping corn. Burbank, you are cool guy, but the above statement is just plain dumb. If you don't know the difference between growing crops and purchasing bags of corn and dumping them out on the ground then there is no rational reasoning with you. And THAT is the problem here - no RATIONAL reasoning with the pro side of corn pile "hunting".

We will just agree to disagree WM. I am not comparing row crops to bags of corn. I am comparing food plots planted specifically for deer as the same concept. Both are done to lure or entice the wildlife. The percentage specifically planted for management purposes only are very low. Same can be said for supplemental feeding of protein. Both are done to lure and hold deer on property. If you will honestly stop and think about it you will see that I am right. The real problem here is that you (and others) are worried it will effect your quality of hunting and reduce an advantage you have. Food plots .... are in the same category as dumping corn. It depends on whose ox is being gored. If you don't hunt like I hunt then you are an idiot poaching sumbitch, etc. I for once agree with burbank, if you are luring or enticing an animal you are baiting. Doesn't matter if it is corn, BFO, sex scent lure, Record Rack, rye, salt, peanut butter flavored rice bran or any other kind of lure, it is all out there for the same purpose.
