I guess by Burbank's definition hunting around anything a deer likes to eat is hunting over bait. Is hunting over a white oak flat dropping acorns hunting over bait?
No because that occurs naturally. Man didn't put those acorns down. You plant green fields to draw deer and pattern them by a trail. That's baiting. Same as a big ol bucket of corn.
I put some seed in the ground and covered it up. That in itself does not attract deer. Nature makes it sprout and grow and that's not guaranteed. Food plots are available 24/7 for months and do a lot of good for game in general.
I guess I am old fashioned. I remember the time before game cams, turkey decoys, extended deer seasons, when does were only killed for a week or so and before spin feeders. We had to read the signs to find a good spot or big buck/gobbler using an area. It seems like every decision now is made for the benefit of the hunter and not for the game. Just about every big buck I saw killed in the past few years the hunter had a pic of him standing over a pile of corn or at a feeder.
