Question for the lawyers (and all the other legal experts we have on here). I found some unclaimed property that the state is holding onto listed in the name of a deceased parent. The deceased parent left no surviving spouse and I am the only child. How much of a PITA would an affidavit of heirship be to obtain? The deceased parent also left no will and essentially had no estate to speak of. Is this something I would truly need an attorney to help me handle? Or would it be reasonable to believe I could take care of this with one of those online legal form sites?
