I usually leave all of my gear on the ground and use a pull up rope to bring up my back pack and gun/bow. I use an extra long rope so I only have to pull up one thing at a time.
I have not used a lifeline before, but I am thinking I may in the future, or just stay on the ground.
I do hope that the guy makes a full recovery and gets back out in the woods soon.
