I fired a guy yesterday that had been working for us for a little over 3 months. I fired him because he has a side job. He just couldn't believe that I was firing him. He blamed me for the whole thing when he's the one who has a job on the side. He told me I was mean, I had been rude to him, I treated him like he was stupid. I disagreed with him and told him to pack his stuff and leave. It was a moral issue with me, so he just had to go.
I started to hit the submit button, not revealing what his side job was, hoping you guys would blast me, but I decided not to.
His side job: Drug dealer
Yep, and he's the one who told me what he was doing, then got mad when I fired him.
According to him, he's not a drug dealer, so let's look at the facts, according to him.
He use to be on heroin. He got "clean" but has a prescription for suboxone and has to take one so he tests positive for it before his prescription will be refilled. He told me he had a guy that went with him to get the script filled and gave him $600 for the stuff.
He told me I just didn't understand how bad he needed the money. He told me he wasn't a drug dealer, that was different.
Kicker is, his mother lives across the road from us. That's the downside. She's a nice lady.

I applaud you for what you did. My next question is what will he resort to now. I see this everyday, the prescription drug abuse is quickly out pacing what you think of as drugs. Marijuana, Cocaine, LSD, Extacy,Methamphetamine ect. The Suboxone Clinics are partially to blame. We busted a Gynocologist in our county prescribing and selling the stuff on the side. It's cash only business. Some use public aid, Medicare, Medicade, stuff we pay for. If he does like the rest of them, he'll get on disability and we'll pay for it all. Bottom Feeder.....

I fired a guy a while back for failing a drug test. He got a pill dealing Dr to write him a script and filed an EEOC complaint, the Dr and the EEOC said that it was an Americans with Disabilty act violation due to his addiction being an illness and hence a disability. Wanted us to pay him for the rights violation. Ain't happening, he's spill head and dangerous to work around and they want me to pay for firing him, what's next, fined for not hiring them and paying them to stay home.

I don't blame you one bit. One more thing wrong with our country today, govt manufactured drug addicts/dealers. I would have thought hard about turning him in too. Guess that would make me a snitch and a bad boss.

The "pain management" clinics help feed this problem. They dont have any problem feeding pregnant gals these opioid dependence treatment drugs to "help". I got to spend five weeks in the NICU with an innocent baby girl suffering to overcome this crap...opened my eyes to a lot of things.

Had a buddy who fired a lady because she was having drugs ups to his office and then taking them home and selling them. She seriously could not understand why she fired her when the police showed up to arrest her.

The side of the bottle says "Do Not Drive or Operate Heavy Machinery" and I believe it is illegal to drive while taking the stuff even if it is a prescription. You can't have someone working while on the stuff because it would be an OSHA violation and potentially illegal in general.

I've had multiple surgeries, physical therapy and still suffer with daily back pain and arthritis. I've learned two things, for certain. 1. Not all doctors are trying to get you hooked on meds, they just try to relieve your pain, and they need you to be honest. 2.If you have real pain you won't feel a "buzz". The high comes when you don't really need the meds. I make a conciuos effort to limit my use of pain killers and most days I just get by with ibuprofen and herbal supplements. People need to realize drugs kill and exercise personal responsibility. We got far too many deadbeats who'd rather suck on their narcotic thumbs everyday, watching zombie movies and playing video games, rather than get off their collective lazy asses. I make a choice to get off the couch everyday and do something, even though I live in pain, it's much worse if you lay around and get no excerise.
