Hunted yesterday afternoon. Killed 11 billion skeeters. But no deer. Oh well, it beats being at work.

You could always become a "swatting" tester at a bug repellant company swatting skeeters after all that time spent attacking bugs instead of deer.
Early morning or as soon as the sun hits the top of the trees in the evening when it's that warm out.

I hunt the wind, but had a doe and two yearlings all around me within 10 yards in light winds/calm Friday morning for about an hour and 5 minutes and none of them ever even looked up.

I saw a couple of them yesterday evening. Saw 3 does. Let them walk. it was a strange feeling to be mid 70s in mid January.

Had a lizard come join me in a ground blind this afternoon. He had legs so I didn't mind. I don't want to see any of the legless lizards.

I did learn that bug spray can go bad. I've had a little pen sized and shaped container of bug spray in my hunting bag for about 4 years now. I've never used it or really needed it until this afternoon when the skeeters started. I sprayed some on and it smelled just like pickles. I guess the stuff turns to vinegar. I smelled pickles all afternoon. The good news is apparently, mosquitos don't like pickles. They left me alone. Sadly, so did the deer.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

To hell with deer hunting

If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

Heading out here shortly. I will have used three of those butane cartridges in my thermacell by the end of the day.

Yes, we found those today. I'm gonna get rich one day by inventing an estrous doe urine scented insect repellant. Maybe scented gun oil as well.
