Beavers are becomming a true pain in the neck. They are continually plugging my spillway and digging into the damn of my lake. What is the best way to get rid of thiese critters. We have been shooting about five to eight every year, but just can't seem to get them all?

In 46 years, most of my troubles have been because of beavers.

If you can trap or kill one put it where they are doing the most damage. I have heard that the live ones will not come near the dead one.
Other than that keep killing everyone you see to get rid of them.
You can do a google search for beaver control and it will show you designs you can do with a fence for the spill way to discourage them. I think it may be called a "Beaver Deceiver" ?

Run a 3" pvc pipe through the dam about a foot below the waterline. They can't figure it out and will leave.

That's true, but they will move down the dam. Also, a pipe in the dam won't work b/c it appears to be a pond he wants to keep. You have to kill them all at one time, just shooting at a few here and there educates them similar to shooting at a buck in a food plot. Traps are fairly easy to use and effective if you have the time to do it right. I sent you a pm.

Try lining the face of the dam with something like a galvanized chain link fence. They may not leave, but they should not be able to dig through it to damage the dam.

Hire some redneck kid to sit on your dam with a spotlight and a 22 at night........Thats what I did, except I was the redneck kid.
