If have not got hunter ed upon turning 16,the a supervision only license would be required, which then they would have to hunt with an adult because that is require by the supervision only license

To answer your question, yes under the age of 16 can hunt alone but would (for deer-turkey) need the "Help" number from DCNR to go with their "harvest" report for the check stuff.

they don't need the help number to go hunting, only to report a kill.

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

Exempt hunters, under 16, 65 and over, residents hunting only family land, are only required to have a harvest record in possession while deer hunting, which cam be a paper record,or a smartphone with the DCNR game check app on it,and of course hunter orange While deer huntimg

Those using the smart phone app as their harvest record in lieu of a paper record, would have to record a harvested deer on the app prior to moving, field dressing etc said harvested deer

Which is another one of our nonsensical regs. Over 16 you have to have hunter's ed, but under 16 since you don't have to have a license, no hunter's ed is required. It would be much safer to say you have to have hunter's ed to hunt by yourself. Period.

Take them out now before they get addicted to the "face in the phone" syndrome or it's a fruitless effort if you don't.

I sure am glad my dad didn't HAVE to do all this crap to take me deer hunting back in the late 70's.
Never would have happened.
Thanks pops.

And under 16 a license can be purchased without hunter ed.

A lifetime license can be purchased prior to being 16,but you are required to obtain a hunter ed certificate to legally hunt under that license if born after August 1 1977
