I used to love to travel and hunt and am kind of excited. This should be a goodtime. Private ranch....just me there hunting with a friend. Lots of land. Managed for good ones.

Im looking forward. Had fun here at home...shot 2 nice ones when I did go...but ready to see more then I do here.

a contributing factor for me may be... 5 boys and youngest just graduated and joined the Army. Others are away or in college. Major life change at home... Who knows.

I could go tomorrow morning and not get to work until 11:00 if I wanted to. I just haven't been seeing deer this year, that's killed my mood more than anything. I keep hoping that the rut will start and they'll start moving but it hasn't happened yet

The hot weather has me in a horrible mood -two years in a row now .
Also the drought hasn't helped my mood -bought a seamless rain gutter machine in July and it quit raining in July - I've had lots of luck like this in my life .
I even said it would stop raining when I got the machine .

81* Christmas day -yeah that's Christmas weather and hunting weather .
I told my neighbors happy 4th of july today.

Glad that i'm not alone. Past couple of years, i've hunted less than i used to. I'm 53 now, hard to make myself sit in the wind, rain, cold, or heat.

there have been a lot of good cold days this year for people to not have been once. you might just want to look into that you don't enjoy deer hunting. my next hunt will be hunt #35 for this season. its been a great year and they've been "moving" since October 15.

I've been one time for less than 2 hours and didn't even see a bird. I may go tomorrow afternoon for a while, surely they will start moving soon.

I like the weather for my plots, and hoping for some cooler weather in Jan and Feb. I don't go as much as I could cause of the weather but I'm still excited for the few good days we have, like tomorrow.

Yall do know deer live in Alabama during hot days and cold days. Just go Hunt. If it's 70 and sunny wear shorts and sit in a tripod somewhere. This may be anyone of y'all's last deer season due to who knows what, take the kids or a friend and get outside!

Well said Ben2. I just go hunting and enjoy it, if is 80 degrees then i bring an extra water with me. I never got to hunt as a child except for maybe 3 times squirrel hunting. When I turned 16 I kinda started on my own deer hunting with an H&R sing shot 12, and an 89 Pontiac Grand Am to haul animals in. I guess that is why maybe now I appreciate just having somewhere to go and hunt and really enjoy checking on fields, checking cameras, filling feeders, and just sitting by our little camp house and chilling the heck out. Dont let the weather discourage you from hunting just go. I saw David Blanton take a little boy that had survived brain cancer the other night, it kinda opened my eyes up just a little bit more.

Really??
Next thing you know......people will be trying to convince me that fish still live when it is cold!

I simply do not care to hunt in this type of weather.
It has nothing whatsoever to do with killing anything!!

I take two weeks vacation during muzzleloader and first week of gun season, hunt hard every day regardless of the conditions. After that I just hunt when I can. I've had my best season yet by killing two good bucks and that seems to have made me less aggressive. I'm taking my grand kids for a short late afternoon sit today and am excited about that! Hoping the wind is not as bad as weatherman says it's gonna be.

I'll say this. I sure wish I had gotten back in a duck lease this year. I'll get fired up in a couple of weeks but now I'm just going through the motions. Haven't spent one night at the hunting club and usually we're down there almost every weekend.

There's a reason harvest totals are way down during mild winters, deer don't move as much during the day. They have thier winter coats on and when its warm they are really warm. Yes, you might kill a deer when its 80 degree's, but i wont cause i'll be doing something else. I like to keep my stands fresh, especially my best stands for the rut, so i only hunt them when conditions are in my favor. Some people hunt a property to death and then wonder why when the rut hits their not seeing mature deer.

I've probably been more than most, but less than I normally go. At least half the times I've been, it was because I felt obligated to go since I'm retired and I could and I hunt spots that are anywhere from 400 yds to 3 miles from my back door.
Almost nobody is hunting on our club leases which should be a good thing when the rut gets cranking in a couple of weeks. Very Little pressure so far

Between work, access to a family farm in IL and this dang hot weather; I just cannot get 'in the mood'!!!

I am hoping that some cooler weather will come as the Rut gets here. I would love to do some hunting!

I am in the same bout except I still have not talked myself into hunting in Alabama this year. The weather is definitely not helpin, but hunting in Illinois and other stuff has definitely put a damper on it too. If we get some cold weather next month I definitely plan on taking my bow into the woods though wink

Hot weather, kids, no babysitters, all have me to one 2 hour sit with my 7 year old daughter. Those were two really good hours but nothing moving but the local golden retrievers. 😀
