I'm the one that posted about the confrontation with a dog owner after his dogs ran off a deer I was watching on my property.

All I can say it that prayer works. I prayed about it last night, just asking God to help me work it out and do the right thing. I didn't want to kill the guy's dogs but I wanted to be able to hunt my property without them being a problem to me.

I had a message from the dog owner this afternoon when I came in asking me to call him or come by to talk. I first tried calling but didn't get him,so I just went back over to the property to see what he wanted and hunt this evening. He wasn't there when I got there but I heard him drive up before I had walked very far into the woods ,so I decided to just get it over with, whatever he wanted to say.

I did pray again that we both would keep cool heads as I walked back toward the truck.I wasn't very optimistic though because I saw that his pen was empty,so he hadn't put his dogs up. I was thinking,he was going to be spiteful and let them all loose. He had 5 or 6 and only 3 were out the day before, but now the pen was empty.

I walked up to his door and he came out on the porch. I told him I had got his message and asked what he wanted to say, getting ready for whatever, telling myself that I wouldn't get mad no matter what.

He started out by telling me that he had got rid of all his dogs. He said he didn't want any trouble with anyone. I told him that I didn't want any trouble either, and all I wanted was for him to keep his dogs up during season. I told him that I had asked as nice as I knew how.

Anyway we wound up talking a long time, about an hour. We even got to talking about the Lord, and we even prayed together before I left, after he asked me to pray that God would forgive him. I told him that God would forgive him without me praying for him but I also told him I was sorry for for any angry thing I had said to him the day before and we just prayed together with me leading us in prayer.

I guess some of you hard asses won't think much of this, but I think it was a much better outcome than what could have happened and I give God all the credit, because I wasn't acting much like a man of God after he started hollering at me. I never cussed him but after he said, just shoot the --- dogs. I shouted back that I would. I also shouted "just keep them off my property!" as I was driving away. The Lord really made me ashamed of even that today.

Likewise, my friend......I am truly Proud that things worked out the way they did!!!

If you will go back and look at my 1st post on it, I said, "If I were that MAD about it...."

Prayer works!
Especially when you confront problems head-on, like a man should.

Oh.......but, take my advice on the horn blowing..... smile

Good for both of you.

There is always a way to work out problems as long as both parties are open minded about it.

It takes strong men to overcome issues and pray together.

WOW.....That's about as good of an outcome as a fellar could get there. You gonna drop him off some venison when you bag one?

Awesome. Amazing how prayers are answered.

I don't know what he did with the big ones outside in the pen. He still has 2 or 3 small ones inside. He told me he only lets them out to do their business. He also said he would make sure they weren't out to bother me. I assured him that I only said I would shoot the dogs in response to his yelling at me to just shoot them, and I wouldn't try to kill his little pets.

I even asked if he wanted some. He said he wouldn't eat it but didn't have a problem with other people hunting.

Just goes to show that God can use us in situations we didn't think about. R.H. if you hadn't said what you did you never would have been called by the dogs owner.

Will do buddy!
I never even thought about it making someone mad. I've had lots of hunters come down to my house and blow for me to come out. I live off in the woods and apparently there's some coon hunters that use the property around me that loose their dogs from time to time. I've had several come buy and blow the horn and I've caught their dogs a few times and gave them a call to get them.

I have no problem with a guy's hunting dogs showing up,or any problem helping him get them back. We use to dog hunt when I was a teenager.
