Cougar claw - the best of summit and ole man features put in one stand!!

Aluminum Summit. I'm not a huge feller and have an easy time toting that thing around. More comfortable then most recliners that I've sat in too.

Interesting, first I've heard of them. Few questions. Where are they cutting the weight at? Appears to be full frame unlike x stand. Is it just tiny? Second, have you actually weighed it? Several stands are 3 or 4 pounds heavier than advertised. I may be seriously interested in this. I love an x stand, but it's about as comfortable as your average lockon.

1) The stand is smaller than your average stand in terms of width. Personally I like that in that it's almost like sitting in a wing back chair in that when you are sitting in the stand your arms are naturally on the side rails; however you do have room to put your arms inside the stand if you like but it's a tight squeeze.
It's made of aluminum and sounds hollow so this appears where they really cut their weight.
2) Have not weighed it but have compared it to other "light stands" and by feel it feels lighter. As mentioned previously have a treewalker as well and it's significantly lighter.

Advantages--extremely light and packs well, very stable on the tree, has a leveling system for trees that narrow. I can walk a long way with it on my back and it doesn't feel heavy.

Disadvantages--I hated the seat--changed to summit seat and liked it better, it's a little loud (made of aluminum so has that hollow ding to it if you bang the top and bottom). I've got a buddy who turned me on to them and he loves the seat so different strokes for different folks.

I had a timbertall until someone stole it when I left it in the woods. It was light, maybe 12 lbs but it was small and clumsy to fasten to the tree. I am an inch or two over 6ft and weigh around 185. I prefer my summit viper over the timbertall but when I bought it I was having serious back trouble and wanted anything lighter to carry.

Been hunting out of a Summit Goliath for a while. Got to the point where its become a hassle to get way back in the woods. Its big, bulky, loud and heavy. I just went with a treewalker. I hope it fits the bill on what I'm looking for. If not, my 2nd choice was a lone wolf sit and climb.

Can't go wrong with a Summit Viper at 21#. Might try the backpack straps that have the kidney belt to take some weight of your shoulders. It might feel lighter? Or buy one and leave it there.
