Get some custom insoles that match your feet first off!! This. I just got a new pair of orthotics made today at my podiatrist. It's a $37 copay with my insurance. Without, they would have been $175. But worth every penny. They heat up a plastic foot bed and you stand on it for 10 minutes. It forms to the contour of your foot. Then they laminate layers of foam onto it. If you have high arches, this is the best. You rip out the insoles of you shoes and stick them in. The best thing is that you can wear any shoe you want and they all feel the same. You wear them out and just go back for some new foam. My last pair lasted for 3 or 4 years.

Also try compression socks. Those help a lot too. I'm a nurse and I'm on my feet 16 hrs a day and I wear those Nike compression basketball socks. Those things are the bomb. They help with fatigue and pain and they have a lot of cushion. Plus they wick sweat. They about 12-20$ a pair but worth it.

Merrel's with a Spenco insert. Spenco is an insert made for wade fishing rocky bottom trout streams.

Another vote for Merrells. I bought the Moab I believe at Bass Pro. Guy in the shoe dept with me suggested em. Said he worked with guys who did inside commercial construction. That was all they wore. They are comfortable boots. No break in required.

You know what I do Josh and how much I walk in a day. I have two pairs of work boots. Somedays I wear a lace up western style ropers. I love the ankle support that 8" lace up boots provides and I guess it's because I've worn boots all my life . My other pair is the Merrel hiking boots like CNC just bought and mentioned. I love both of them and alternate wearing them depending on what I've got to do that day. But I do spend the money on the inserts my podiatrist recommended as others have mentioned. Do this for your feet! Also any boot or shoe you can twist easily ain't worth a damn for your the long term health of your feet.

No way I'd wear any kind of hiking or taller boot, hot and no need for extra weight. I'm on concrete 8 hrs a day NO WAY IN HADES I'm wearing boots. Something like Merrell shoes and when the insoles start flattening out add Powerstep Insoles. They blow other insoles away. https://www.powersteps.com/retail?utm_so...nt=Brand%20Plus

One thing to keep in mind, though. There are *some* standards for climbing ladders, where a shoe with a heel and a solid shank come into play. Might want to check into it with your safety person at your work.
